EE Retentions Deals

Hi,
Has anybody had any luck with negotiating good deals through EE's Retentions Department? My contract is up and ideally I would like to drop the price of my current plan, but I have also cracked the screen on my HTC One M8, so I will need to replace that.
I spoke to EE a couple of weeks ago and they said they could do the Galaxy S7 Edge at £34.99 p/m and £119.99 up front, 4gb data, unlimited calls and texts. I didnt think that was a bad price, and I probably would have accepted if the up front cost was knocked off, but it put me off and they wouldnt budge so I decided to do a bit more research. I called up again later and explained that the up front cost put me off, and enquired about the Galaxy S7 instead, as I know it retails for about £80 less than the Edge. They told me that it would still be £79.99 up front, same monthly cost as before. I said that doesnt make any sense when the phone is £80 cheaper, but again, they said they couldnt move any further.
I have also thought about buying the phone outright and going SIM only, but the 4gb plan is still around £20 per month on the website.
Has anybody been offered anything better than that recently? Or are there any tips on how to get more knocked off?
Cheers for any help/advice0 -
Are you within 30 days of the end of your minimum term? If not then they won't offer you their best deals. Wait until then, and request your PAC code. This may spur them into offering you a better deal. Or it may not. Retention deals aren't as common as they used to be. Your "loyalty" isn't worth anything, providers only want to keep you as a customer if you're actually profitable.
Look at third party contract sites like mobiles dot co dot uk and affordable mobiles for better deals. Remembering to use quidco for cashback.0 -
But a quick skim on these sites suggests that EEs offer is actually a reasonably decent one...... I can't find anything that beats it looking at the 2 sites I mentioned.0

Yeah my contract has finished as of March 31st. I did have a look at a few other sites, such as the one you mentioned and e2save, buymobiles etc, but I dont know anybody who has gone through them, and as a result I have no idea how reliable they are! Thanks for the help though0

I requested my PAC on 3rd May and I missed a call on 4th May from a number reported to be EE retentions but have not heard anything from them since, so I guess I have two questions;
1) Does anyone know if and when I am likely to receive another call from their outbound retentions
2) Is it possible for me to call EE and get through to someone who will offer as good a deal as their outbound retentions team?
I would prefer to stay with EE, but I can currently get a far better deal with Vodafone though Carphone Warehouse (compared to the EE advertised price, it would be £50 more up front but 2GB more data and £14/month cheaper), they tried to offer me suitable deals when I called for my PAC but could not match what I was looking for. My current phone has some problems so I would prefer not to wait a couple of more weeks if it is unlikely that I will hear from EE offering better deals.0 -
A better deal with Vodafone isn't what it sounds like. You're likely to regret moving to them.0

Are you sure you want to move to Vodafone ?0

I would probably prefer to stick with the safe bet of staying with EE, I know Vodafone 4G signial isn't great inside the building where I work, but from what I have been told it is generally OK elsewhere around here, but an extra £286 over the contract period is a lot, hence hoping I get a chance to see what EE outbound retentions can offer. mobilejunkie's post does make me wonder if I have more to think about with Vodafone than just signal, I was told their customer service is good but have only really discussed them with one person....0 -

It's the only company with it's own sticky for a reason.

Ah fair enough, I had noticed an official company representative responding in that thread so I assumed it was needed as they were active on here, rather than because of the number of problems being posted around (also hadn't noticed that the thread only started in January, 16 pages of complaints in that time...)
That make me all the more interested in my original questions, does anyone know if there is a particular pattern in EE's outbound retentions getting in contact, or if I can get access to the same deals by calling EE?0
