  • Hi there - just found this thread so it will (hopefully) be a useful venting opportunity!!

Had 2 viewings last week (1 the week before) first complete time waster after I had to rush home to meet her (and tidy up) - note to self not to put myself out again for a viewing!!! Second one was Friday and feedback on house good BUT they haven't sold theirs yet and still looking at others.....

Ideally want to sell by summer - otherwise we will rent ours out but I was hoping to sell and claim back stamp duty for new house renovations.

I am hoping that one we move (fingers and toes crossed) it may be easier to sell the house empty?

Depends how untidy you all are, but not normally.

Remove the furniture and some people will have trouble visualising the use of space. Also, unless the house is pristine, all the 'warts,' like fade in carpets and paint will be emphasised.

What's your definition of a time waster? I viewed a lot of houses I was only vaguely interested in, but I kept an open mind. The people who bought my last house weren't even on the market when they first viewed.

I've found those uttering the most effusive praise are usually full of BS, but YMMV.

I have looked into the selling when empty but decided it's better to have something in the house so I have got furniture dirt cheap from gumtree etc

Good idea - we don't need to move everything so will see how it looks - jut think it is a blank canvas - we have built in wardrobes in bedrooms and a cabin bed built in and built in desk

I think it will be better without our dresser/table/chairs/bookshelves which are dark oak and we love but they are not contemporary and not to everyones taste, we bought this house empty - will see how it looks as we start emptying it (hopefully that is!!)

just chased the EA for feedback from tuesdays viewing...they just called her and apparantly she wasn't sure which property they were talking about...she's made some more bookings with the same EA but theyve got the feeling that she doesn't quite know what shes looking for and keeps getting confused

so i'm certain its a no, back to the drawing board :(
  • The same recurring problems with viewers here. Makes you want to tear your hair out!

    • He loves it, she doesn't
    • She loves it, he doesn't
    • Both love it. Then they bring the kids for a second viewing and they don't like it.
    • Both love it. Then they bring the grown up kids who won't even be living there for a second viewing and they don't like it.
    • Both love it. Then think of a tiny problem overnight and tell the agent they don't like it the next day.

    Arrrgh!
  • No way do the kids have a say!
