A late entry for me - still on the journey home with an hour to go...

My happy time was watching my two boys feeding a baby kid and patting and cuddling it. She was a little darling and enjoyed all the fuss. The boys we soon surrounded by all the other kids who wanted to join in.

My kind deed was to give my BiL a new drill to replace one that was stolen a few months ago.

We all ate a delicious lunch of cold meats, home-made bread and pickles. SiL had made pumpkin chutney which was amazing, so my frugal tip is to try your hand at preserving fruit and veg to enjoy out of season!

    Hello,

hope you all had a great weekend. Don't think I had any NSDs because of DS party, the big shop etc. Spend Sat morning prepping more for DS party. I just have to focus on that the kids had a great time. But I spend far too much time preparing things, thinking of games (totally overestimated the attention span of a bunch of 5 year olds and alternative entertainment they can come up with, who knew that eggs from the egg race rub well into lawn) etc. Also we never had some many boys in the house before as all of our friends have girls. So it was fun but also a hectic. I think the last party we had in the house was when DS was 2. He missed he's 3rd due to his sister just being born and the 4th was in a soft play place. But I learnt a lot and will definitely have the next one in the house too.

Yesterday afternoon we had the paddling pool out (15C counts as summer up here :rotfl:) and had a bbq. DH is in London for two days and tonight I will have my friend's daughter too. But as the weather is so great just now they'll be happy in the garden and I can start cutting a tree down that is neither pretty nor useful and that we want to replace with another fruit tree. Hopefully can motivate myself to go for a run in the sun at lunch.

    have a nice Monday

    Happy Monday folks.

Got some horrid jobs out of way at work so thought I would have an early update for a change.
Today going to use up all the rotting veg and fruit before it walks on its own. So will bag a SFD.
Chicken defrosted so guess that's tea sorted. Great tip Fmess but may pass on leaving the oven door open for heat today.
Squirreled 7 pounds towards my debt, better than nothing.

Chased Quidco for paymentnot a great deal but it all counts, recd 10.00 sainsbobs voucher from Valued opinions, nicely, nicely and amazed up to 7.50 already in my act.

Happy time from yesterday - watching GS face when we saw loads of black baby bunnies in the park.
Kind act - feeding daughter and gs again.
Frugal tip - online monthly shopping is so much better me.

Haven't bought any lunch today, see what I can find in my desk, usual tinned stuff kept there in case war breaks out! Failing that cuppa soups.

Enjoy the sunshine and remember to use suncream, we don't want any red necked turtles here.

    Oh forgot,

sort of had a finance chat with DH last night after he asked me for money two weeks after payday , which I pointed out. He's not actually shown me his spending, income umbers but I pointed out I have to stop paying back the family debt now to focus on "our" CC and saving for things like the front door and going home to my parents etc. His plans and intentions sound all good but I am not convinced. I listed the things we need money for this year incl next January and came up with nearly 3k which shocked him a bit after trying to tell me oh we'll do that just on that pay check, and that won't be that much oh and when we have a few pennies together we'll do this.......He's just so vague, that's why it never works out. To make it work he needs to know how much money he's got and what he's spending. Talking to a wall here. He also just revealed that he borrowed money from his dad for when we bought the car , really? I thought that was covered by the remortgage (trust me a deal I well thought through) and the CC. I'm loosing the will here....:(

I think i have to be a lot stricter with the things I can control (food) and not be tempted into things even if he pays for it. Next weekend we'll be at FIL and the week after is his birthday. After that and during the week no more drinks, basic but tasty food, no lunches out on weekends etc. Hopefully seeing that I'm struggling to cover our debt etc will make him see the light.

Back to report I just got my 7 year badge today. woo hoo. Have I really been there that long?
Anyway popped to shops and spent in the end. Some new jersey potatoes and salad looked so much more interesting than what is lurking in my fridge, needed fruit as well.
On the plus side just had 4 pounds tf to my paypal act for surveys.

Thank you, done my numbers and because of the money he borrowed I only have £94 left till payday on the 31st. I'll try to make the most of it and make it stretch, when I get his money back it'll feel like a bonus and if I managed this will go to the CC and the saving. Will do a food audit today or tomorrow and use everything up before I buy anything else (apart from milk and fruit). I'll use this situation as motivation to really knuckle down on the "use up what you have got before buying more" mantra.

Will also spurn me on to rake through the house for things to sell which I keep putting off.

    See the bright side :D

thrifty I know how frustrating that must be, my ex was the same and like you, it was always me who made the sacrifices. I know I don't have much spare income since we split but I am now covering 100% of all the bills and I feel like I have much more money as there is no one constantly borrowing from me. Hugs

clippy thank you for your advice re the phone cover. unfortunately I read it after I got back from Carph0ne warehouse but will remember for next time.

Today is a SFD although my kettle stopped working last night. I nearly bought one in aldee the other week but convinced myself that my old one still did the job! Wednesday will be a spendy day so I'll hold out until then and check out aldee in case they have any left!

Currently sat in the garden under a parasol :) Now I remember why being a teacher is so great ;)

    Hey Turtles
Hope that we’re all getting on ok with our month of appreciating what we have. I am finding myself a lot better since I reminded myself to look at things from a different point of view. Reading about everyone’s kindness and successes has been really good for me and I hope it’s helping you lot too.
Full and busy day at work today, but having the sun out and a warm day has really helped me to feel happy. I gave a book to a friend of mine because I knew she was after a copy and I knew I was finished with mine. In return she has given me a copy of one of her books, so that’s also my frugal tip for today. Swap! Books, clothes etc… A change is as good as something new.
