    Evening everyone :D

Keep the frugal tips coming – no matter how old or familiar they seem to you they are certainly going to be helpful to someone. I’m learning loads and it’s only the 4th of May. Today I have been frugal by mixing unwanted cat food with ‘fresh’ and returning it to the cats. It has been eaten during the day, so nothing has gone to waste :p

Something that has made me happy – DH ringing to tell me he’s working late so that I don’t start worrying about him (although my anxiety is ridiculous at the moment and I have already imagined that he is having an affair or is driving to Scotland to be on his own. Neither of these things are likely)

And I have been a very kind driver today – decided to let a few people in and out during the commute, which is not me by any stretch of the imagination :o

TOG – sounds like plenty to celebrate re the car. OK, it was expensive, but not as much as could have been, and you had the cash there to pay for it :j Thanks for the brilliant money tips for kids. I’m pleased I’m already doing some of them with my two.

WelshKitty – I will remember your tip about the jam. I am an utter disaster when it comes to making jam in that I have never successfully done it.

Bob – I hope that your dd is better today. I too am shocked about Trump getting as far as he has…

Ooh clippy – your rash sounds nasty. I hope that you’re feeling a bit better today – you be kind to yourself.

Speky – how was the interview? Everything crossed for you.

Calling – don’t forget to be kind to yourself in among everything that you’re rushing around to do. Very kind of you to keep the naughty step clear :p

I am ok today – not great but lots better than yesterday. My thoughts are still out of control though – I have this horrid tendency to panic about everything and see the worst possible outcome. I’m surprised I haven’t considered the possibility of a meteor hitting the house yet…. I’m determined to try and ignore/rationalise it all though.

May the fourth be with you.

Hugs to everyone that needs them.

Slept badly (hardly at all) after eating late at night. Awake early and very hungry.

A SFD - difficult as I didn't really feel like walking to my appointment but made it there and back. Nearly 11 am before the test was finished and I could eat. Ham,celery and yellow pepper wrap never tasted so good.

Not done much as felt tired, dizzy and disorientated for the rest of the day but couldn't sleep. Starting to feel normal now.

Happy with the book I had to keep me occupied. Also smiles from a baby at the clinic.

Good deed - helped a mother with a fractious toddler keep him entertained at the clinic.

Frugal - I used to bulk out the litter tray by putting ripped up confidential waste in with it (ends up pretty much unreadable and the identity thieves would have to be very desperate to bother stealing it).

Today I am grateful for sunshine on the back of my neck, for all the trees coming into blossom around the church and for remembering all the short cuts to the clinic I visited.

    Evening all,

SFD number 2 here :) Resisted treating myself after work today and instead had a aldee cider and one of my favourite simple teas - pasta with cheese.

Today's happy item is that I got a promotion at work :j I applied for it a few weeks ago but have had to wait a while for the interview but luckily they told me at the end of the interview :) (after I had to do four hours of interview day tasks).

My kind acts were contacting everyone I knew who would be travelling a certain route home tonight as there was a major incident in our area and I got caught in it.

My frugal item is not buying takeaway when I would usually buy one to celebrate.

    :T:T:T Congratulations fmess :T:T:T

Today I am grateful for the sunshine, for being able to pay a little more off the mortgage, for good chats and laughter wirh colleagues, for the apple blossom starting to appear, for peace and quiet.

I was kind to a student today and let her off my lesson so that she could get her head around her spanish oral.

Frugal tip: those nsds really do matter as they make you plan ahead and stop and think hard about off-list purchases. If chocolate is your downfall, buy some when on a planned shopping trip and 'hide' it in the freezet for when you need it. (Doesn't work for crisps :rotfl:)

I have had four nsds on the trot. I think it's down to being too busy to do anything non-school related. Hoping it will calm down next week. I've been trying to do good deads n help people where possible. I let people in front of me when driving etc.

Another person so glad the sun has finally made an appearance today. Ate dinner in the garden woohoo! A little chilly but all good.

    Hi everyone!

    Well done fmess!

Hugs to anyone who is feeling low, ill, or struggling at the moment.

    SFD 2 for me today.

I was happy today when I realised that I have been in my new job for nearly 5 months and I haven't raided the tuck shop once, despite it being located opposite my desk. My will power is stronger than I thought!

My good deed - my dept has to cover a location that nobody seems to like working from. So, I have volunteered to cover one shift a week there for the foreseeable future so there is less pressure on my more experienced colleagues. I'm also secretly hoping this will earn me some brownie points!

Frugal tip - when you think your cupboards are empty check, check, and check again. Hubby was supposed to do our butchers shop today but they were closed. He said 'we will have to order a takeaway because there's nothing in'. But I managed to throw together 1 and a half sausage sandwiches for him and a bacon and mushroom roll for me. That's at least £15 I just avoided wasting!

Late to the game but may I join please?

Good deed? Checked in with a few friends going though hard times to see how they're doing.

Happy? The tortoise which I inherited with the house made it through hibernation and was enjoying the sun on her neck and eating dandelions in the garden when I came home from work and I am so pleased she survived her first winter under the new management.

Thrifty? Haggle at the end of market time when the guys are packing up. Especially on a sunny day like today when they've made good money - they will throw in a few extras just so they don't have to take them home.

Hi guys - popping in to catch up on all the news and tips.

Had an OK day, for me. My happy moment was watching my two small sons playing ever so gently with a ladybird on the walk home from school. Small was teaching Tiny a song about them while the insect ran over their hands. It was very sweet.

My kind deed was agreeing to collect and look after my friend's daughter after school one day next week as her shifts mean she's stuck for a sitter.

Frugal tip? Fed my left-over cooked spaghetti to the hens who thought it was the best treat ever. No waste and the girls love me even more now :)

It went well, thank you very much for asking. Very thoughtful. I'll update you all should I hear any positive news.

    What has made me happy?
I watched an episode of Suits last night (totally addicted) and it revolved around being too busy for family members which made me very grateful for mine. I’ll phone my gran later to let her know I was thinking about her.

One thing I done for someone else?
Last night, for my GF arriving, I tidied up, lit some candles, put her PJ’s on the radiator and made a start on dinner. It’s the little things.

    Frugal tip?
Bananas!! Sooooo cheap for a bunch. Rich in potassium too. Much cheaper and healthier than that chocolate bar.

Good morning from sunny central Scotland, finally it feels like spring.

    Congratulations, Fmess!

As yesterday was a spend day anyway we also went and bought milk and butter.

Last night I tended to my seedlings as I'm still reluctant to plant them out for another week. Tonight and tomorrow I will be party organising for DS' 5th on Sat. i.e. cutting out bunting I printed off google, making candy and fruit sushi, planning some ninjago games (like dragon egg obstacle course through the garden). I'm so excited and it's not even my party :rotfl:.

Frugal tip for the day, if you're a gardener and struggle for little pots for your seedling do what i did. We have a water cooler in work with quite big (250ml) cups, I took some used ones home last night, washed them and used them to transplant my bigger seedling as I only had them in little seed trays but didn't have any 2in pots. Now can last a bit longer inside.

Changed energy tariff yesterday and tried to adjust my DD back down to £70, but had no response yet. This morning I got an email, transfer ok and your new DD is £182 , that's like twice the amount we use. So messaged them again to correct it down.

SFD, LO fish pie for lunch and a cycle in the gym.
