My frugal tip for today is when buying chicken fillets instead of buying breast to buy thigh fillets - they are much juicier and much cheaper. Not all supermarkets sell thigh fillets though. (Obviously if you can use a whole chicken then it's cheaper to buy that and separate the meat)
Have a super Monday everyone!!
Apparently thighs are higher in iron content as well :TLBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Good morning,
Not an SFD today either. DS saw two German books about trains and planes on the back of one he's got about trucks and asked for them for his birthday. Found them on Amazon today. If they don't arrive in time for Saturday, I'll keep them for christmas. Plus I need milk.
Didn't go to the gym yesterday but will definitely go today although I feel a bit meh, I think hay fever is starting.
Car will get service and/of MOT today. Hope it's not too dear. Always seems to be sth. Wonder if the mechanic just tries it on. Does anyone ever just pay the MOT fee?
My frugal tip for the day is save your used coffee grounds and put them around the roses for fertiliser. Some veg like that too.

Morning!
Yesterday was another NSD, I’ll update my signature in a mo.
Today won’t as I’ll have to pay for parking £8 for this interview! I recon Wednesday and Thursday will be NSD’s though however the stag doo this weekend won’t be unfortunately. £100 for the hotel then the spending money.
What has made me happy?
Planning my weeks expenditure. Puts me at ease.
One thing I done for someone else?
I done some work for a colleague of mine. Technically wasn’t within my purview but I done it anyway. Yet to receive a thanks for it, but that’s by the by.
Frugal tip?
Using Herbalife for lunches/breakfasts. A tub cost me £30 and I only use it during weekdays and it’ll last me at least 6 weeks. Divide £30 by 5 weekdays and 6 weeks, then its 50p for breakfast and lunch while also maintaining a healthy weight.0 -
Good morning everyone. Sorry for not being online for the first couple of days. The internet at home is shocking and I wasn't able to get online. Hope everyone is doing ok. Just wanted to pop in quickly to say that I have had two NSD's now, unfortunately I had planned for this to be one too, but I have to buy some icing sugar as my Mum and DD are making cakes for us to take on our holidays tomorrow.
We are staying away until Sunday, so I have not planned any NSD's, but we are self catering and all the food is bought. I'm not sure what the signal will be like so may not be able to post after tonight, but please be reassured that you are all in my thoughts, especially when I go to open my purse!
Once I return on Sunday I plan to be back on track and fully in the swing of things!Collect Moments Not Things0 -

Well sorry didn't check in yesterday, so tired. Another day of fence painting killed me. Ache all over still today.
Not started off great this month 1 SFD only so far, today will be. Completing my own challenge from last month - eye test after work today - but work will pay so hopefully gain 2 SFD.
Welshkitty - I am easy to spot in Aldi - covered in brown fence paint spots!
Spent yesterday needed bits and bobs for garden, house and food.
Looking forward to some warm weather fed up of getting blown to bits, hailed on, whilst my daughter posts gorgeous sunsets, diving pics with turtles I am more green than Kermit. 3 months she has been away now so not fair.!

Hi All
I am very pleased today as I managed to save myself £800 on my business insurance renewal which I am delighted about. If anyone else with a small business is renewing soon I would be happy to DM you the companies details.
Also took another party deposit today which has really helped my cash flow.
So today's frugal tip has to be keep going. In all matters don't take the first answer as gospel. Keep trying until you get the numbers that work for YOU.
NSD other than the business spend.

I'm finally checking in (sorry!)
Today I've got a stinking cold (typical now it's starting to warm up I get one!) but dosing up on Vit C and will try and get an early night!
You will aim for 16 NSDs - none as of yetI thought I'd get one today but I paid entry fee for the London Marathon 2017 ballot so no chance. Should have one tomorrow though.
Budget the month ahead and pay your debts off at the beginning of the month. Live off what is left. - no debts to speak of, but I have budgeted comprehensively for this month
Plan your social activities. As there are two bank holidays this month I suggest a maximum of 3 activities. Try not to be impulsive. - well I now have three social events - dinner + drinks with bf's family; a girly Saturday; and birthday drinks in London (if I go, I've checked the drinks menu and £7.50 for a cocktail, £5 for a pint of beer!)
Take your lunch to work every single day - I do this anyway (most days anyway, I can be extra good this month)
Donate time or money to the charity of your choice - this I will have to think about
Try and make an extra £50 over the month, either by decluttering and selling, crafting or wombling - I've already had two eb@y sales (exact figure in my sig) so this shouldn't be a problem. I also use sw@gbucks to pick up amazon vouchers
Every day post one thing that has made you happy today.
Driving into work in the sun. Dunno if that sounds weird, but it actually felt good to get into a slightly warm car, and drive with some good tunes. I enjoy driving when it's the right conditions!
Post one kind thing that you have done for someone else.
It feels bad to say I can't really think of anything todayNot anything that would be described as "kind" anyway. Must try harder.
Post one frugal/moneysaving tip; budget recipe or bargain to share with the other turtles
I would say for anyone that reads books, to keep an amazon wishlist and then monitor the prices daily. Books can drop (sometimes to free!) and I'll always grab them when they're 99p/£1.99 etc. I read so many books (and want so many) that it's good to keep track of them as well
Well that's my first log in. I'm feeling so woolly headed it's almost like I don't know what I'm typing. Could be a load of bo***cks :rotfl:0 -
Evening Turtles! :hello:
I have to confess to struggling a bit today. I woke up this morning with an awful feeling of dread that I just can’t seem to shake off. I’m not worrying about anything in particular – I have an anxiety disorder that I can get under control most of the time but at the moment it’s out of control. I’ve gone from complete Zen to almost hysteria in the space of 24 hours.
So the best thing I can do is get on here and remind myself about the good things in life. Particularly those things that are free.
Eager Elephant – hope that your relative is better soon. I’m so sorry to hear of the problems he has with his children.
Mothershipa – no need to count stuff that has been budgeted for over the month. I have to buy prescriptions and at £16.80 a time they are budgeted but I don’t let them spoil a nsd.
Thrifty – more excellent gardening frugalities. I don’t think that I can ignore our garden for too much longer. I say it’s for biodiversity but the neighbours don’t like it much
BeLikeMonica – Enjoy the holiday!
Something that has made me happy today – my Year 10 triple class. I gave them all a lovely long lecture about how silver nitrate gives a delayed but permanent colour change on the skin so to be careful with it. One of them ‘dared’ another to do a fake tan and he has. I’m giggling just thinking about it – because I have stains on my fingers from holding the bottle – I can’t wait to see his face tomorrow.:D:D :rotfl:
Kind act – did a detention for a colleague who couldn’t stay after work.
I have stolen the idea of a ‘use up’ box from the small things thread (I think it’s legomum). Stuff lurking in my cupboards that needs using and isn’t getting used. Tonight I did sesame seed coated chicken strips. Yummy. Not giving up
