Hi everyone
Well the weather only went and cheered itself up after lunch and we ended up with a gloriously sunny afternoon.Long may that continue.
Today, going out for a walk with dh and the kids in the sun has made me happy (even though my knees are not thanking me for it)...
My kind thing was to order something from Amaz0n that ds is desperate for, and allow him to pay me back out of his pocket money. He's definitely a spender - hope he doesn't have to learn the hard way like I did.
Frugalities - not so many today really, but we did bin off the idea of eating out so have saved money there.
Onwards turtles. I may not get on before work tomorrow but I will be on tomorrow night. Keep the faith! Not giving up

Hello gang! Sunny bank holiday afternoon here and as ccl said, long may it last. Are we finally going to have summer?
NSD number one under my belt! Finished all my laundry and ironing, cleaned the kitchen so it looks more like a kitchen than a bombsite. Long may it continue too! Just need the boys to help me put the ironed clothes away. Dinner is steamed fish and vegetables, using up stocks in the fridge and freezer. There was talk of having a take away but that has been averted whew.
I had a nice long pep chat on the phone with one of my best friends who was feeling a little down and tired. She sounded a little bit cheerier after our phone chat. Another friend who said she would give me moral support for my Personal Finance workshop this coming Sunday has taken a rain check but I am not in the mood for gripes today so I said it's perfectly alright. Those are my kind deeds for today.
My frugal tip for today is: to try and use up stocks in cupboards, fridge and freezer before you go out and buy some more. With a bit of creativity and resourcefulness try new recipes out of what's in stock. You'd be surprised what you could make out of them. Good evening
I have established today that I am not very good at not spending money! I just do it without thinking. I only bought a bottle of drink and a bag of mu favourite chocolate, but still, I didn't really need them. Ho hum, back to work tomorrow so I will remain hopeful of a NSD
2 items sold and were paid for on eBay yesterday. £15/£50 earned in May.
What made me happy today;
my fitbit and the challenges it contains. I am at the top of the leader board after one day of the workweek challenge, I am NEVER at the top, so I am happy that I went for a 5k walk at 9 this morning to up my number of steps.
I don't think I have done anything nice or helpful to anyone today
Frugal;
Iceland frozen pulled chicken. It is £2 per bag, is really tasty and is already cooked. I have that and a naked noodle pot to take to work for lunch tomorrow.
I hope to be back tomorrow to report a NSD. Also, all my monthly bills will be paid tomorrow by direct debit.

What made me happy today - playing 2 games of Frustration with DS3 and OH - DS3 loves family games, but DS2 didn't want to join in, DS1 was out with his gf and DD was revising. I had a splitting headache and found it hard to even focus on the numbers but DS3 really enjoyed it
Something kind - did 2 loads of my mum's washing after her wm decided to break. (haven't been anywhere to do anything more than that!)
Frugal tip - think of soap as soap - so if you have a shampoo which no longer agrees with your hair, use it up as shower gel/ bath foam/ top up the handwash pump at the sink with it. Same for shower gel/ bath foam - if you have an excess/ a disliked scent, use it elsewhere. I even use the dregs of my daughter's apple scented shampoo to do a sinkful of washing up each time she finishes a bottle and I used the dregs of Ds1's anti-dandruff one today in the bathroom sink when cleaning my bathroom.

A spendy day for me today - paid the electricity bill, council tax, tv licence and bought milk.
Today I'm happy for walking home in the sunshine and getting through a large proportion of my to-do list at work.

Evening all,
NSD 2/16 today, that will change tomorrow as its back to work although all my spends tomorrow are budgeted for (bus & train fare as I don't drive) so can that count as a NSD ?
I made £10 from a gtree sale today £33.75 for May so far.
GOT is back on TV, I recorded the 2am showing and I got piece to watch it this morning with my coffee so that made me happy.
I haven't seen anyone today apart from DDs so haven't really done anything kind/helpful today other than my usual parental duties.
My frugal tip is to walk as much as possible its free and good exercise. DD2 walks everywhere with me now and doesn't mind (DD1 is a teen & wont even walk the length of herself).
So that's me for tonight lunches are made for tomorrow so I'm off to bed. I love reading all your frugal hints & tips and just catching up in general.
Take care all & have sweet dreams tonightProud to be dealing with my debt.

A SFD.
Been nice to DS3 all day when he wasn't particularly nice to me.
Happy to have found another new to me author and to have found a just started library book hidden under all my sewing - was very worried on Saturday as I remembered the Bank Holiday about 5 minutes after the library had closed. Wasn't sure the books would hold out and might have been reduced to reading the ingredients on cans of food.
Being frugal - never trust the manufacturer's guides as to how much washing 'powder' (tablet/ gel) you should use. As I have very delicate skin, I have always used the least amount possible. Currently using SM own brand non-bio tablets and they recommend 2 tablets per wash, more for heavily soiled/ fuller loads. I have got it down to 1 and a quarter tablets with perfect results every time. One alone meant some things needed doing again. Never ever believe those 'V' people who suggest putting anti stain ingredients (bad for your skin and probably increases wear on your clothes) in every wash, just in case - if something is stained deal with it appropriately, don't add expensive unnecessary cleaning agents to every wash. Don't use conditioner on babies clothes as it can harm the development of their immune system (most of the rest of us don't 'need' it either.
Still using up oddments from the fridge - corned beef with beetroot wraps today. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Annie was amaaaaazing! Dd loved every minute of it (me too!) and saving £7 on parking made me feel very smug. After a couple of songs, dd said that she would like one of the souvenirs - the Annie doll - and didn't want to take up my offer of buying it on the internet. After the show we went to look at them and dd simply turned to me and said, 'I think I'd like one from the internet'! as they did not look anything like Annie at all. £9 saved there
. And also saved was whatever the tiny pots of ice cream would have cost - dd didn't even ask for one.
She was asleep by 10.30 and I reckon will struggle today. I'm hoping to get out for work before she wakes. so dh can have the pleasure of waking a very tired child... Having said that, I'd better get a wiggle on and make me some brekkie...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Personally I do not count spends which enable me to get to work so car parking and sometimes the bus - I'm sure this question arose before and it was agreed that budgeted spends on travel to work don't count.0 -
What a super bank holiday weekend - even the rain didn't dampen any spirits today (I love rain when the temperature is still warm, it makes me think of our honeymoon to Sri Lanka)
Everyone is doing really well and I am loving the frugal tips.
Today has been a spend day - went to the T supermarket (which had been planned since Saturday but never quite made it).
Yesterday I was happy because I had another roast dinner - it is my most favourite meal and with having a bank holiday I could cook it again. I did Yorkshire puddings today (couldn't yesterday as no time) and they are scrummy. Clean plates all round.
My kind deed was going to visit relative again and taking him some snacky food - we thought he might be allowed home but alas his infection is not under control. He is annoyed as he wants to be at home to watch the football and is also worried in case his son finds out he is in hospital (this is one of his horrible sons who over the years took all his money, he tries not to tell him anything but he does ring weekly and if he knows we have not told him he will become abusive to relative - god families are complicated!!)
My frugal tip for today is when buying chicken fillets instead of buying breast to buy thigh fillets - they are much juicier and much cheaper. Not all supermarkets sell thigh fillets though. (Obviously if you can use a whole chicken then it's cheaper to buy that and separate the meat)
Have a super Monday everyone!!0
