I just wanted to say to those I have advised recently about getting your bodies ready to TTC.....I forgot to say, get yourselves onto folic acid and take it every day. Doesn't have to be an expensive brand from a health food shop, I take tesco's own brand.

Thanks, I didn't know that. In the 4 years we have been TTC its only ever been me that has been advised to take Folic Acid. I just checked hubby's mulivits that he was advised to take and folic acid is in that anyway.

Argh! I'm getting impatient......I did have a mirena coil in until last month. It was removed on the 16th April. Had my AF a few days later on 19th, and bled for 10 !!!!!!! days! Since then bf and I have been TTC. Its now 27 days later, I keep feeling sick, my boobs are swollen, lower back pain and tummy pain and haven't come on yet. Did a test yesterday, which came back as negative. Not really sure what my cycles are now, as I had coil in for 6 yrs, from what I remember I used to be on every 21 days.

    Hi Helen

I'm in a similar situation to yourself as I had my Mirena removed on the 22nd of April, I then bled for 4 days but it didn't 'feel' like a period iykwim. I've been keeping an eye on what my body is doing but I'm not sure if I have ovulated or not since it came out although I have had the ew cervical mucus. Before I had the Mirena in my cycles were quite long at 31/33 days. I had tummy ache last night and this morning so I am hoping that is a sign that AF is imminent as I really wanted to have a 'proper' period first so I know where I am with dates...

Like yourself I've had the mirena in for quite a number of years so I have no idea about my cycles any more!!!! Feel free to PM me if you want to chat about our similar situation...

    Take care

Well now that we're Mr & Mrs Tine we're hoping to start a family with a little babby to join the household. We both agreed we'd wait until after the wedding due to stress etc of a wedding and now we're gradually recovering from the big day we're starting to think about how best to prepare.
Many years ago I fell pregnant on the pill (back then I don't recall anyone mentioning 98% effectiveness lol) but miscarried early on, which was the first I knew of it... It came as quite a shock at the time, but looking back I'm glad what happened happened as I was not in a place to have a small child then :( Not a happy relationship!
    But now I am! :yay:
I think a couple of months break from living our lives around the wedding and then we're going to try for a little one. But should I come of the pill now? Or wait another month? I've been on the pill for a few years but less than a year on this particular pill (had loads of trouble stabilizing my periods after coming of the Depo - that thing played SO much havoc with my body I can't warn enough against it without knowing the full facts first), so I'm hoping it won't be years before we concieve...
I don't know if at 28 where I fit in with the group here as a first try'er but I get the feeling I'll be on here a fair bit in months to come :)
Good luck to all who are trying at the moment!!!

When I got married last May one of my colleagues suggested that we use condoms for a while before we started ttc. At the time I didn't think it was neccesary, but I do wish that I had done it now. I think I would have saved myself a decent bit of heartache if I had had settled periods before I started symptom spotting because we were trying.

The only problem being, when we were just about ready to start trying we did try going to condoms initially, and we ended up only doing it once with a condom, because once our minds were on it we just wanted to get going.

But again, for me, I do wish that we'd gone straight to condoms as we got married.
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Thanks jiblets1 - I think once hubby surfaces I'll serve him a nice breakfast/lunch and have a chat with him about what we're going to be doing... :)

Hi all - still trying here!
Re the mirena coil - I had mine removed 2 months ago and have had 3 (long!) periods since. whilst on it I hardly had anything.
Feels strange to be 'trying' as such as we have 2 children already - the first was conceived whilst i was on the pill (and taking it every day!) and the second was the result of 1 time hubby and i got carried away. So we did think of ourselves as super duper fertile! Taking a bit longer this time thou!
    Good luck everyone

Can I ask a question re digital ov kits? I got a positive today, so is this the day I have ovulated? It should be today, Ovulation, but reading the leaflet it isn't clear.
