AAAAARGHHH! AF arrived today. It wasn't really a suprise, I'd felt it coming yesterday, but never mind.

Off work for the week when I should be ovulating, so i think there may be a couple of suprises waiting for BF when he gets home from work. (Me naked on the sofa at 4 o'clock in the afternoon counts as a suprise doesn't it?)

I know this has been discussed before but what ovulation kits do people use. Any that anyone would strongly recommend?

Hi all - still trying here!
Re the mirena coil - I had mine removed 2 months ago and have had 3 (long!) periods since. whilst on it I hardly had anything.
Feels strange to be 'trying' as such as we have 2 children already - the first was conceived whilst i was on the pill (and taking it every day!) and the second was the result of 1 time hubby and i got carried away. So we did think of ourselves as super duper fertile! Taking a bit longer this time thou!
    Good luck everyone

Thanks for your feedback on the mirena coil removal. Good luck and hope all goes well for you............xx

Well we had "the chat" and OH would like us to have a few months stress free before trying to concieve and I would like to start trying now :rotfl: so we've compromised and I will have one more month on the pill and then come off it but not actively try for the first month or two :)
He thinks we just need a little time to relax and be us before we actively try and add to the gang - and I can see his point, we've both been very stressed and some us time would be nice :)
But in the mean time I am having a full check up at the docs and I am going to start taking supplements too in preparation - can't hurt! :)

Although I'm no longer ttc I just thought I would pop in and say good luck to you all with your babymaking plans.

Although I am only 20 when I was 17 I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed and was told that having a baby would be difficult. The following year me and my partner decided to start trying (I was young but now I have symptoms of early menopause so am glad we at least tried) I was taking folic acid and OH was advised to take folic acid and zinc. We tried and we tried and every month I would be convinced this was it this was the month, but it wasn't. then the one month I was too busy to concentrate because I was decorating our new home and packing for our holiday af didn't turn up. It was only when we got back from our holiday that i twigged that i had felt lousy and tired on holiday so off i trotted to the doctors but as we were in a new area got the bus in the wrong direction and when i realised i got off and the bus stop back the right way was outside a boots store and there in the window was an advert for pregnancy tests on special offer and like a little lightbulb going off in my head i went and bought two. I got on the bus and went to the doctors and while i waited to be called in went in the loos and did both tests and they were positivet. Unfortunately things didn't work out and i miscarried the baby later on in the pregnancy.

But what I am trying to say through all my waffle is try to relax and still have fun with your OH the most amazing things can happen when you least expect them. If it doesn't happen this month don't beat yourself up there is probably nothing else you could have done to make you any more fertile. Hang in there and don't give up.

    Finally....

Baby dust and well wishes to you all

Sorry to but in, just had third child but desperate for another! Just waiting for AF to return..Have had eight pregnancies, it has taken a long time to get pregnant with each one so over the time I have read a lot and learnt a lot...

Folic Acid should be taken 3 months before conceiving and up to 12 weeks whilst pregnant - it reduces the risk of the baby having neural tube defects e.g. spina bifida. It is present in green leafy vegetables, cereals and bread so if you don't get it in tablet form but eat the above, don't worry.

There's no need for your partner to take it...better he sorts out his diet i.e. less alcohol and eating well, so he has 'good' sperm.

Re coming off contraception and then waiting a few months - there is no need. It is just for dating purposes.I think I read somewhere that there is a 25% chance of a woman falling pregnant in her first month of trying..I'm not sure what woman they asked though!

Ovulation kits - I tried so many and spent so much money and never could understand whether I was ovulating on that day or would ovulate 24 hours later - I think these tests say 'within in the next 48 hours' - yes very handy, not. Anyway I moved onto a small lipstick-looking device where I would lick the lens and wait for the saliva to dry. During my ovulation period, the saliva would look like ferns when dry.It is a recommended method to save pennies - will have to look up what it is called if anybody is interested.

    Hello all....

Wish I'd listened to Shelly and not tested on Sat already. Instead of AF turning up 2 hours later as is normal, there's still nothing. I'm totally baffled as it's now CD47!! I've never had a cycle that long but the only "symptom" I'm having is awful hot flushes which make me feel like I'm on fire and want to tear my clothes off I'm so hot.

Is it possible that I could be pg despite the total lack of symptoms or pos test? What else could cause the sudden lack of AF? I've never had one not turn up, even when under extreme stress.

I'm off on holiday Thurs and will test again Thurs am, but don't really know what to do now. Will go and stamp my feet in the nearest doctor's surgery and demand to be taken on as a patient I think. Waiting for the authorities to sort it out will never happen.

    Thx

Hi, a few of us on here are using the saliva testing kits, I'm using Ovatel which was about £15. I found it really simple to use and really like it, however I showed as ovulating (got the ferns) for 1 day at a time at 2 seperate points in my cycle, so wasn't sure if I actually did or not until AF arrived at the weekend. I know they're not 100% accurate, but it was really confusing for me!!
