Do you still get the tablet to add to the dried peas?

My OH who moved here from the South had never seen mushy peas.
    Or black pudding.
    Or tomato sausage.

I'm a southerner and I don't think black pudding's unusual. (ETA Possibly what's unusual is that I also like it as a cold meat.)

When I lived in Manchester for a while years ago I was surprised not to be able to order different sorts of fish at the chip shop although perhaps things are better now.

    I agree
Don't like chips with baked beans, for example, as the sauce runs on the plate and makes the chips soggy :(

I can't eat baked beans on toast, it has to be baked beans with toast.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I try to eat the crispy bits while they're still crispy and keep the gravy for the soft insides.

(I don't have vinegar on chips either.)

I don't have vinegar on anything, hate it

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Same here. I either drain all of the liquid to have them on toast or put them in a bowl and have them like soup :D

I don't think I even possess a bottle of malt vinegar although I do have a variety of other kinds for making salad dressings.

My lunch was a bacon sandwich.

So - to open a new debate - brown sauce or tomato ketchup?

Brown sauce, definitely. If not, mustard.

Tomato definetly! I have tomato sauce on almost everything. Don't like brown sauce, but I remember that my Granda always had it on poached eggs _pale_
