I agree with what you have said, Peter 333, except that PN herself said she didn't like many people.
As for not knowing someone's circumstances - many years ago I knew an elderly lady, very good brain and an Oxbridge graduate, . She was a spinster lady, quite eccentric, but the main thing one noticed about her was that she chain-smoked to the extent of having the front of her hair and her fingers stained permanently brown.
One day she invited me and another person to tea. when we got there she had on an old saggy cardigan, an old skirt with stains on it, a headscarf and shoes that looked as though they once belonged to her mother. She told us she didn't cook or shop, so we only had a cup of tea and biscuits. There was hardly any food in the cupboard and even less in the fridge.
Now you might think this lady had nothing and even offer to cook her a meal or pay a bill - but in fact she had been left a large house and income by her parents, as well as money in offshore accounts. She employed a cleaner (who also cooked) and a gardener.
That particular day, she must have thought we looked surprised by the meagreness of the fridge and her bag lady appearance and she gave us a large wink and said in her gravelly cultured voice 'Yes....you'd never guess I was a millionaire, would you?'
Dear old Anne, what a character. RIP x(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Thanks SDW. I hadn't read all the posts so didn't realise the poster had said that.
Still stand by the rest of my post though. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

If people think I said that, then it's an example of how poorly I communicate in the written word when multiple threads are involved.
It might be me that has misunderstood, but I thought you said you didn't like many people somewhere in the thread.
If you didn't, I apologise.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I know what I mean - I just can't articulate that.
ASD: the hidden one.
I know I'm different, it just seems that I'm not 'allowed' to be - and if you don't 'fit in' then you can just s0d off ... and that's in all life, not just here, not now, not this thread.
But I can't help but speak out, the way I see it .... it's an inner urge.
This isn't meant to sound patronising at all, but you often refer to things you've never tried, food, drink, places, experiences.
Have you lead quite a sheltered life? I'm guessing you're not some young thing who's barely flown the nest?0 -

Which, I actually agree with. People can eat and drink all they want, I couldn't care less, just don't expect me to pay for it.
She does just pay her own bill and leaves it at that....what are people not understanding here?
What I think is miserable is that people just won't live and let live and accept that some people are happier with just paying for their own meal and drink. Everybody should be allowed to have a night out without being judged as spoiling someone's night. There's far more important things to worry about IMO.
No more to be said - that wraps it all up.0 -

.... but I still don't think I said it.
There are, of course, many people I don't like over the years - but that "many" doesn't mean "most of them" it means "quite a few", or "maybe a dozen or so, tops". A dozen's many. If I said anything like it.
Actually, if you can be @rsed to read back, most of your posts have been about not liking most of the people you socialise with and thinking them greedy and deliberately out to cheat you.
That isn't being critical of you, I don't like lots of people I know, even some who I consider to be vaguely friends.:(0 -
