How come you are all getting reduced pay?

It has sth to do with increased NI deductions depending in which pension scheme you are.

P.S. DH has just announced he will join his new work's 5-a-side team tonight and then work later. Play 5s as usual on Wed and work late on Thu. Either he's got another woman on the side ;) or he's seriously avoiding the money chat :rotfl:

How much is it? Roughly % less income to take home?

Started to write the first shopping list for next month. Groceries is one of the few areas I can reduce (apart from just not spending at all on unnecessary stuff). Need to replace my daily fresh salad some days with homemade soup. That way I still get my veg etc. Also need to stop buying so many fresh soft fruit for the kids like strawberries, grapes etc but more apples, oranges as that will work out cheaper. Will also try and replace my LIDL fruit and nut muesli with bran flakes but not sure if they keep me full. Read some posts on various grocery challenges and some just puzzle me, some spend that little they can't possibly eat anything fresh.

Thrifty I have thought that at times reading the OS section but I think it is more that some have stock piles to see out Armagedon in their freezers. If you buy frozen berries and veg then it is fresh but frozen fresh.

Thank you for your replies. polly that's great advice, thank you. I know I'll be busy for the first half of the day as I'm also in the wedding party but it's the evening part that I think I'll feel lonely. Anyway I'm not going to worry about it fur the next few months, what will be, will be.

thrifty mine is about 1.5% less take home pay but it equates to over a week's food shopping for me. It's NI that's shot up, my tax has gone down.

Today is another SFD and are frugally again by using up bits and pieces :) Its freezing here again so the heating is on again and I'm off to hide under the duvet before bedtime.

For the past 3 years at work, my increased tax allowance has been swallowed up by my increased pension contributions and I've ended up worse off each month. Last year it was about £15 a month - this year I suspect about £30 a month.
So, I officially have manflu - I am poorly, dripping with snot and a fuzzy head. Great for frugality because I can't be bothered to do anything. I have spent again today, but planned spends - £50 for one of the cats at the vet and another 6 pints of milk. Other than that I've been working completely non stop all day, still marking, but those tests are finally marked and that is one giant frog well and truly gone. I'm not sure how many spend days I've amassed because I lost count and frugality a week or two ago and have struggled to pull myself back in again. I am getting back on the wagon though - I just need to get well first.
  • Cheeky NSD today! Think that's 8. And sold something on eBay. Only a tenner but still. Stuff out, cash in. We had snow and lightening together today. Brrr.

A NSD today :) which now takes me up to 12. Currently trying to do a budget for next month but struggling, really need to make my money stretch far in May.

Weather here has been awful too - snow for most of the day, thunder and it's so cold :(

Thrifty mine is 1.5% as well. Not sure on how much out of take home pay as I also have my holiday deduction. All in all I'm about £45 down per month. Don't forget you get an extra £6.67 per month in tax break if you are a 20% payer.

It's the last day of my holiday today and I fly home tonight :(

I have spent under budget so should have enough to clear my Argos card when I return home :T:j:beer::money:

By the time by regular saver matures at the end of June I will have about £3075 coming out of it to put to the cc. And about £90 in minimum payments (which is budgeted for from my account). So looking at around £1680 left to clear.

Airbnb site has a massive glitch at the moment which is really affecting my booking numbers :(:(:( so bookings and income from them will be down from May until they fix it

Hope to pay an extra £100 in May and June off the card so down to £1480.

Then minimum of £500 per month Jul, Aug and sept.

So should be debt free by end of September :T:money::beer::A

I will be paying all extra income straight to the card from now on (except my holiday savings) so will be nice seeing the total going down and should be able to knock a month off if Airbnb sort the bloody glitch out!
