  • What lovely women, SDW! I sympathise with her OCD problem, I can hide mine very well for short periods but the disorder is often crippling behind closed doors. She is very brave. I always used to tell my clients it doesn't matter to me if you are here because you have a had an awful trauma in your past or if you are here because your cat has died, the fact you are in pain is what is important. What is huge to one person may not be to another but the emotional pain is no less valid. We have all felt fear and devastation, no matter how things may appear and we all want acceptance and love as our most basic needs whether millionaires or living on the streets.

You are all very wise :)

Just setting off for part one of the mammoth journey..... could not be less enthusiastic if I tried. Am also tired as I stayed awake far too long last night googling "career change in 40s" and similar.

There was some research done somewhere, in recent years, about what makes us happy.

I can't remember the details, as usual, but the net result was interesting........

The research looked at two different groups of people, one group who were fundamentally satisfied and happy with their lot in life, and one group who weren't very happy generally, and who were disgruntled with life.
(That's putting it rather crudely, but as I said, I can't remember the finer details).
The two groups covered people from all walks of life and income levels.

Then the research looked at people in those groups who had come into good fortune, like a big lottery win, and others who had had some big misfortune, like becoming paralysed in an accident, and other scenarios inbetween.

They found, not unsurprisingly, that those who received sudden good fortune were initially very much happier, and those receiving the misfortune, were initially very much more unhappy.

However, over time, they found that the good fortune people who had initially not been happy with their lot, gradually reverted to being as unhappy as they had been before their good fortune.

The same also applied to the people who had a misfortune. The people who had initially been happy and content, gradually became as happy and content as they had been before the misfortune.

I think this last bit was the most surprising.

    Afternoon my lovelies,

Hugs. squishes and hand shakes to all.

Wave out WaS good to see you again.

Well in my own home again. Good in a way. As TOTM which I never thought was going to arrived.

Still no money from lodger. Text him yesterday to say that I am going down the legal route. So going via the small claims court. I know where he works. as his works don't like them having anything personal delivered not going to like my LBA arriving. no choice as no home address. I think there is lot more to what has happened then he has let on. As husband said to me a week monday just gone he saw him in town at 10ish!!!! strange as had last wednesday off. So he was up to something as he never takes time off.

Ono, I will not drive in to the centre of bath any more. since southgate was torn down and all the new stuff put up its a nightmare.

if any one was a hello kitty fan in the house, poundworld have ty beany hello kitty dolls. I got a normal one and her as a mermaid for husband to give to me as a xmas pressies. yes I know, no suprises but easier I get what I want :rotfl:

Code that dress is lush. agree that red would look good as a contrast.

Well all next week I have two house guests. Action man and action collie. Action man said its a trial run for living together next year  I know this sounds freaky but on sunday evening, action man, husband and me are all going to pub for a drink. I don't expect them to become best buddies. Just want them to meet and get on. As there will be times when we will need to do things socially.

And it seems that I am hosting 3 lots of gatherings at my house between xmas and new year  paper plates etc will be involved lol!!!!

    Yours

Haha pyxis, will be in a Travelodge in some services tonight so the treat will be getting some sleep!
  • Good luck. tea! I hope the weather is kind to you!

Calley! I haven't had a chance yet to tell you how incredibly happy I am for you! Action man sounds like such a nice a guy which is of course exactly what you deserve! Enjoy every minute together.

Happiness is a weird thing, Pyxis. I am mostly happy in day to day life even though I don't have what a lot of people do, it just doesn't feel like I am lacking anything to me. In my case it's because I largely feel safe, for me that is what makes me happy. We all have different needs depending on our experiences and personalities, mine has always been security so as long as I have that I can feel ok a lot of the time. So for me, safety = happiness.

Please change that to "30s" as, if I recall correctly, I'm 10 years older than you and definitely not ready to be in my 50s yet! :rotfl:

Not really ready to be 40 to be honest, and that happened in 2009

WaS, thank you, I know I am so lucky to find him. He would say he was the lucky one. I asked why he fell in love with me so quickly. He told me that I make it so easy for him to love me. That made me want to cry. I know what a silly moo lol!!!!

I have had a couple of wobbles because I thought I was too messed up to have another relationship. So find it hard to believe that someone would want to be with me. It just seems to work. apart from him being obsessed at wanting a hot tub :rotfl: its only been a 2 and half months but it has flown by so quickly.

If it was not for the TA and me standing on a shed roof we would never had got together. He was out playing soldiers about 15 miles away. And while he was sat in a bush. He was on pof looking at people close by. And saw a photo of me stood on a shed roof so messaged me. Even though he only lives 20 miles away. He only did a distance of 15 miles so doubt he would have ever seen my profile.
