Taken some valerian to calm me down a bit now. I've also tracked down some pdf ebooks I have, so I can at least read unobtrusively when I have nothing to do. I have a computer now but no access to the stuff I need to do my job. Tomorrow is halfway to the weekend so there's that.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

All will be well, code. New situations always take time. You will be fine. Fake it 'til you make it. (Cliches rule).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Morning code, I really hope today is better for you xxx. I totally agree with the others that it's completely normal to feel like you've made a mistake and that you want to go back to the comfort of the job you knew. Our brains are funny things....no matter how much I moan about a job, as soon as I leave for something else I start waxing lyrical about the old one that I hated when I was there!
This will go one of two ways - it gets better (yay!), you decide it isn't for you and find something else that is (yay!) The important thing (as you've said yourself) is to give it some time and allow the first week nerves to settle.
I'm currently in Belfast station, about to leave for Dublin. I was panicking about getting to the station and picking up my ticket in time..... turned out getting here from the hotel and getting the ticket took about 10 minutes so I have some time to fill! Gonna be a looooong day. Was up at 6, will be at the Dublin office by about 10.30, fun day of auditing (after auditing in Belfast all day yesterday), then need to work out how to get to the airport to fly back at 8.30pm. Reckon I'll get home at midnight
Maybe it's time I changed jobs again!
Love the animal pics melly - what sweethearts!
Love to you all, will have a proper catch up later when I'm more with it. Take care all xxx0 -
Wheeeeeeeee! I'm going to be doing this today!
Penguin .........don't watch the video if you're terrified of height!
"The Tara Canyon attains a depth of 1333m, which makes it the deepest in Europe and the second deepest in the world, right after the canyon of the Colorado river. Tara itself is 146.6 km long. The largest part of the river, including the canyon, is under protection of UNESCO, as part of the Durmitor National Park."
Wheeeeeeeee! Always wanted to do one of these! :j :j(I just lurve spiders!)

Melly - nice to see you back and I love the animal pics.
Code - I hope today goes better. As others have said, give it some time and hopefully things will calm down. You said that you'd had other job offers so, if you still hate it after a month, you know that you'll be able to find something else. Sometimes just remembering that I'm not stuck somewhere makes things seem more bearable.
Tea - that sounds like a long day!! I hope all goes smoothly with getting home.
Pyxis - that looks utterly terrifying but in a fun way. Let us know how it goes!!0 -

What a long day tea0 -
Code, hopefully things will get better as you settle in and get familiar with the role and the people. New situations are always daunting and them clearly not being ready for you just makes it worse.
tea, please let us know if Ireland has leprechaun pokemon :rotfl: Hope your employer gives you plenty of overtime / time off in lieu for the long days!
The twists and turns of the future of my workplace took another turn today when our employer announced he would be willing to sell small quantities of shares to us individually if we wanted to buy them, and we all had a sit down meeting to talk about that and the future of the company. For the first time in the entire time I've worked.there, which is more than half my lifetime. We also learned that he had sought and obtained a guarantee from the company that made an offer to buy the place (which he has now rejected, and was more than our employee group could have raised using commercial borrowing, so we couldn't have matched it) that they would not make anyone redundant - wish he'd have mentioned that long ago as I'd have had less sleepless nights and night terrors. I know in my case those are bought on by anxiety and i've had some really awful ones in recent months. I had feared that all they wanted was to get our customer base, transition them to their products rather than ours and then they would fold the whole thing into their main operation overseas and make us all redundant
So, depending on what kind of offer he makes to us, I might be using my life savings to buy a small stake in my workplace, rather than buying the whole thing as part of a group. I'm really keen to do what I can to secure the future of the company and everyone's job security (not least my own) Only thing is our employer wants to retire so after saying yesterday I didn't want to be a manager, I might end up having to do some managing  We'll see, the last six months or so have seen so many changes to what might be happening it might all be different again next week!

and melly, lovely to see you and your pictures back
I especially like the one of black and white cat poking its head out from behind the plant pot.

Ono - it must be a relief to know that your employer's ensuring that a sale won't lead to redundancies. I hope all goes well with further talks and that you get some kind of idea of what's going on soon.0
