Hallucinations ARE scary! I still jump of my skin at mine sometimes and after 20 years I should be used to them. Even something as simple as developing a cold or upset stomach can cause hallucinations when trying to sleep, fortunately there are many harmless reasons and most people will experience them several times in their lifetime. I sometimes use my sensory ones for fun, when I am lying in bed with my eyes closed I can imagine that the bed is vibrating, if I concentrate the whole bed feels like it is swinging back and forth which amuses me!

If one hallucinates a lot it is possible to get some mental control over what you hear. It doesn't work when I am relapsing or anxious but if there is the usual background mumbling of voices (think someone talking quietly in another room) if I imagine they are talking about specific subjects I can sometimes alter their conversations to what I want them to be about. It does take practice and if you are afraid it won't work but it is one of my coping strategies. I once switched the conversation from them saying horrid things about me to them talking about flowers, again much to my amusement!

  • Oh wow. I didn't even know that was possible! I still don't quite buy into the whole lucid dreaming thing! So didn't even think that was a possibility! I'm glad you've figured a way to change them to not be completely horrible! Xx

It's very shiny, and very smooth (especially the little see-through window). I also got an Irish fiver (although gave that back to a taxi driver)..... I'd never seen either before but the Irish one looked a lot more real!
  • Fascinating! It has a see-through window?? I am trying to resist being an idiot who buys one off Ebay for a stupid price just so I have one now! :rotfl:

If IzHe hadn't spent his the other day I would've pinched it from him to send to you :D

If I get one with a low serial number, that's exactly where it's going (eBay) :rotfl:

A lot of collectors like to snap them up. Although, I do think some people are taking the pee by charging a thousand pounds!

Was out cycling again today, but found it hard going on my thighs for some reason. Started raining a little bit, and some thunder, but just got back in time before the torrential rain started!

Thursday night is training night and we are doing "send to bed." We are mixing it up by having all the dog beds out and each dog has to find the correct one. Gitdog has a threadbare (and somewhat chewed) old towel. This looks pitiful next to the other fluffy beds on display. Gitdog takes his turn and plonks himself firmly down on the softest fluffiest bed in the room. He is not moving. Ever. Under any circumstances. I am seriously contemplating paying huge sums to rent said bed for the night on for Gitdog's gold assessment in a fortnight.
