This may just be me (quite possibly!) but also don't underestimate the evil power of hormones! I range from "everything is awful, I have no purpose in life, I hate this place so much" to "I'll do more training, I'll stay here forever, life is wonderful" on a very cyclical basis.

That's not to say that you don't know what you think/feel, not in control etc... just that some days/weeks it really does have an impact on how easily I can see the bigger picture and the positives.

I always take about 6 weeks to settle into a new job/role/routine.

I love gitdog's contrariness. He is a furry version of me sometimes.

It's not quite worth me getting a prepayment prescription but I will try and order my next batch early when I still have some money! The trouble is that the doctors won't always grant a too-much-overlapping prescription of my anti-depressants even if I say why I need it early. And they don't call and say they haven't done it either. (They are good if you see them in person but I can't always do that).

Too much to do today and not enough motivation. However, it's a lovely sunny day here so that is a bonus, plus DH got paid more than I was expecting so I have some hope this month!

  • Can I have a rant about my gym buddy please!

About 6 months ago we both signed up to the gym & both enjoy it. She would be there 7 days a week if she could! Where as I'm settled to about 3/4 days.

I like to go straight from work (pick her up on the way) do an hour then come home, but she keeps booking us in for classes & thinks oh we can do an hour in the gym & then do a class which amounts to 2+ hours in there. Personally I think its too much, I just want to get home & chill out rather than rushing to have tea, shower & straight to bed!

Yesterday she asked if we could go a bit later to the gym as she didn't have a baby sitter & had to wait for husband to get home (fine) Once she got in the car, she told me she couldnt go swimming but was going the gym & hubby would pick her up! So I waited around basically just to give her a lift to the gym!!

Today I told her I wasn't going as I just fancied a quiet night in with the other half, she started with making me feel guilty & telling me I am going the gym! (i'm still not going). Asking why I don't want to go, don't I like going any more etc. Bare in mind I've been 3 times this week already. Personally I just think she likes me driving here there & back so she doesn't have to walk.

Shes starting to drive me insane!
  • Welcome to the thread skimper. I can't comment on going to the gym as that is something that other people do!

I just looked at the weather forecast for tomorrow and it's heavy rain all day here, so doubt I'll make it outside the front door all day .:o

  • Hello Scimper! That doesn't sound very fair at all. I think it is time to become quietly assertive, which I know can be difficult if you find that hard. I would begin to make yourself a little less available, it is fine to just say no, I don't have the time today when it is inconvenient. There is something called the broken record technique which works well with pushy people. Just calmly repeat the same answer to everything she says, don't argue and don't try to justify yourself, there is no need for you to say more. You may also want to make one day a week when you will go for certain if you can (it will help stop you feeling guilty) so she knows you will be there on that day, the others are your choice. Let us know how it goes, it is hard to do these things but calm repetition usually wins the day.

Huge hugs Code, Do give it a month at least and see how you feel then. It is still quite early days to feel comfortable. You have the weekend now so you might feel a bit better after a couple of days break and you know the first week is over, it's always the worse. Be proud for making through a week in a new, scary environment and try to do at least one fun thing this weekend. Have another hug.

  • Penguin about psychosis/night terrors

I have no idea what happened last night. WaSp tells me I was fast asleep and then suddenly clambered over him and ran into the living room. He found me looking out of the window and when he walked over to me I apparently screamed really loudly and ran to the corner of the room and crouched down crying. He tried to wake me up and I screamed again and grabbed the hair on either side of my head and ripped fistfuls out! Luckily, that woke me up. I remember all colours being vividly bright and feeling as if it wasn't my home and as if I'd been kidnapped but it's all very vague. WaSp guided me back to bed and I was apparently asleep within seconds. I feel like a total idiot today (I am fine now) and have a big patch of hair missing on one side! Argh!

    End penguin

  • Eeeek! Sorry to hear this, WaS!

Hugs to all, especially (((((((((((((code)))))))))))))) - hope your job gets better soon!

I'm off for the weekend with little internet, so speak next week. I've made sure the squish cupboard is bursting at the seams, before I leave! xxxxx

    Have a good weekend, JM!

    Slippery, slimey, sluggy penguin :D

I have a rather large slug next to me in a box eating a lettuce leaf, they eat so fast! WaSp has reached whole new levels of incredulity at me. I want to keep it.
