Good news Pyxis
I keep looking at the OU, I'd love to study law soley for my own interest. The fees are manageable (the old fees were much better, of course) though I can't commit any money at the moment with our ongoing "will we, won't we" buy the company situation (Brexit throwing something of a spanner in the works on that score), but then I look at my house and realise I still have a great deal of work to do and wonder when I'd ever find the time to study as well. It's difficult enough doing 4-5 hours of Italian homework a week, never mind the 18h or so the OU suggest. She's one of those v clever but no common sense peopleProud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Just a quick one before E gets here.
I can recommend the OU, once you have some free cash and free time. I've found that the recommended study time is usually a bit on the over-cautious side of things. I've done quite a few different modules over the years, such as humanities, sociology, criminology, criminal psychology, some artsy ones etc. and I've never needed to do 16 hours a week, except when an assignment is due and my personal perfectionism goes into overdrive.
Since getting a tablet a few years ago, I've taken to downloading the PDF copies of the text books and reading them in the bath! Saves some time. Kinda wish I had the tablet when I started!
Hope you enjoyed all your treats, Pyxis! She would always like to say,

Good afternoon all! How is everyone today?
Did you know handles fall off cups? There I was last night, sipping my coffee and the cup part fell straight off the handle and poured it all over my keyboard and me. I sat staring at the handle in my hand for a few seconds totally confused. Fortunately I use waterproof keyboard covers so the laptop survived! I have never, ever had that happen before and didn't know it could! Check your cup handles, people! :rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Now if I did that, it'd be guaranteed to end up in the bath.
Quick question folks - would you be offended if someone weeded your garden without asking? I was round next door hacking back my bushes from their side (they don't mind, done it before) and because he is unwell the gardens gone to pot and is completely overgrown. So as I've got to go to the tip anyway, I thought while I was there I might as well tidy up a bit till my bags were full. Only now I'm thinking in retrospect it was a bit cheeky and they might not appreciate it. About to go and confess, but if it were you how would you feel? Needs hints on how not to make him feel worse. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Personally, I am fine with it and it makes me happy! Where I used to live although there was a drive there was a border each side of it with bushes and room for a few flowers and there was no way I could keep up with it, especially with the whole not going out thing. The man who lived next door tidied it all up for me one day and popped a note through my door saying he knew I wasn't well and he wanted to help. I left some biscuits on his doorstep as a thank you and he did it regularly from then on. I was very grateful!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I personally wouldn't be happy with it and would find it cheeky, but in the situation mentioned I think it's fine and I'm sure he'll be ok about it.
If someone is ill and can't manage their garden then I'm sure they'll be glad of any help.
The only reason I'd be peeved about it is because I'm able to manage it myself and I'd be like "what you trying to say? My gardens a tip?", but deep down I'd probably be grateful as I'm not a big gardening fan.0 -
