All the best today, Pyxis. She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?0 -

But 18 year olds already know everything don't they?
You could probably fill a book with things I didn't (and still don't) know but trying to stick to the more positive ones:
Your parents may seem like old fogeys but they were your age once and probably did far cooler things than you're doing, don't treat them like idiots.
The fact that you're only 18 once is both a blessing and a curse.
You don't need most of the things you think you need to make you happy.
It's perfectly okay to do your own thing, if you need to change to be what others want you to be then they're not the right people for you.0 -
You probably don't need that many things piercing.0

You can cross me off your tit list, pyxis. Good luck today.
project 18: people are far more likely to help you if they know what you need them to do.
My friend would say: it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Best wishes Pyxis.
For an 18 year old, just because you can buy as much beer as you want at the pub doesn't mean you have to. Or perhaps it was just me that needed that advice

Hope everything goes ok today pyxis. I promise I will check when I get home from work - the office is pretty quiet today but it's not that quiet!
My sister had some checks last year as she had pain and what she thought might be a possible lump - turns out the numpty was wearing bras that were much too small! She's one of those v clever but no common sense people - love her!0 -
Also, I should say (as all I ever seem to post is moany rants lol)... I have made good progress in the last two days with some of the big jobs that have been hovering on my to do list for ages and really getting me down. Still a long way to go with both projects but I do feel a lot better for having finally talked myself into at least starting them.
Hopefully everyone else that's struggling with motivation will find something that works
Having said that.... I'm still now counting the hours till hometime lol... and then I have to find the motivation to clean the house - that may prove a step too far!0 -
Ono - have a good weekend with your parents.
Tea - very well done with starting your big projects. If I could borrow some of your motivation for work I'd lend you some of mine for cleaning
I'm desperately counting down the minutes until it's time to go home and all I want to do is curl up in my chair and not move for the evening but IzHe's (thanks WW, I love that name) mum's up for the weekend so I've got to be sociable and go out for dinner.
Looking at what I've still got to get/make for the BBQ it looks like tomorrow's going to be pretty busy too, there is Pimm's and cake to look forward to though so I don't mind too much0 -
Well, am back home and fed and watered.
So, I saw the hospital gynae doc and she had a prod round and then, worryingly, said it didn't feel like a cyst.
Then I had a mammogram.
Then I had an ultrasound scan, and that did show a large cystic structure with gunge in it. I had a look, and from my limited radiological knowledge, yes, it did look cystic... A large, circumscribed dark area with a grainy blob in the middle.
So then they inserted a needle and catheter and drew off the fluid, which confirmed it was a cyst, especially as the 'balloon' had deflated when they'd finished.
(NB. It barely hurt at all, no worse than an injection.)
When I saw the doctor again, she did confirm that it was unusual for cysts to start up again after so long without (12years), especially as I was through the menopause. (If you remember, I'd had loads, over a period of 5 years, and each one was aspirated off).
Now there are two factors that might have contributed to this, but they are just my theories.
Firstly, Oestrogen is stored in fat, so the fatter you are, the more oestrogen you have. If you are prone to cysts, the presence of oestrogen exacerbates them.
Even though after the menopause your oestrogen levels drop sharply, you do still produce some. I have put on a lot of weight (fat) very quickly in the last 5 months, so that just might be a factor.
The second factor is that I remembered today that three weeks ago, as I was getting out of my car, (which was on a sideways slope with the driver side being at the top of the slope), the door suddenly fell back towards the car, just as I was standing up, and the top edge of the window slammed into my breast. It really hurt, but no bruise became visible, so I thought no more about it.
It just might be that the lump was a haematoma caused by that blow, especially as the fluid that was drawn off was dark red. I don't know whether it would have taken two weeks to build up, but it's another possibility. It might also explain why the doctor thought it felt different from a normal cyst.
Anyway, I'm in the clear, it would seem!
What was interesting was that, while I was there, there were probably around 7 or 8 other women, but also two men, and I mean men being seen as patients, not just there with their wives/partners, etc., so it is important that men are also aware that things can happen with their breast tissue, even though there's not much of it!
So, even more important not to ignore lumps, because there are benign reasons why they are there!
Tea don't forget to do yours! Not letting you off the hook!(I just lurve spiders!)
