I had a letter from them in Feb and registered for a repair, I have now received and email stating DECEMBER at the earliest,
is this fair I feel I do not want to use it as it is kept in a stone shed outside, which is waterproof, but also means I cannot keep an eye on it when in use. I was offered a reduced cost replacement but why should I pay when it is their fault

Exactly the same as my situation. I was also concerned that, if there was a fire, our home insurance could be invalidated.

Apply pressure. They caved for us and others.
  • Our repair was estimated for May but a polite but firm Twitter conversation with them resulted in them doing the repair yesterday for us.

I listed a whole list of concerns such as invalid buildings & contents insurance if my recalled dryer was to burst in to flames resulting in damage, the location of our dryer in utility room under stairs, having a toddler who may be asleep upstairs when we're using the dryer, them saying it's safe to use but fire brigade advising against using, etc...

I asked them to either move the repair date forward or replace free of charge and they agreed straight away to a sooner repair date (10 days after requesting).

We were first contacted last summer and were told we would have a repair date shortly, didn't hear anything so have made numerous calls over the last 7 days. Firstly being told our machine was not recognised, then being told our address was not valid etc etc. After being promised a replacement for £59 last Friday and not hearing anything we called again today only to start the whole we don't recognise you saga again. Anyway after a long time on the telephone we are finally getting our replacement this weekend.

Our dryer was just 10 years old and we thought it was a pretty good deal as our dryer was showing its age anyway.

Its just a shame the customer service in the call centres is diabolical.
    Thoughts:

The surest sign that there is intelligent life in the universe is that they haven't contacted us yet:D

I registered my machine just before Christmas. Had an email this week to go to the Hotpoint website and I would be given a date. December! or a replacement for £99. Think I will start saving as my dryer is a few years old and the new one will have a warranty. Saying that though the new one they've offered me is very unslightly.

So ,on that basis, the "repair" email is being sent ~12 weeks after registration -so much for "within 8 weeks" -anybody got evidence that the speed of response is related to geography eg SE England faster than Yorkshire ??
Our cheapy Creda dryer is more than 8 years old now -what are the chances that it packs up before we get a date in 2017!!!

    Hello
I have a dryer which is listed as faulty
I chose the exchange route and paid £59
Within 7 days it was delivered and fitted
The fitter said the 'new' dryer was faulty since it began to smoke as soon as he switched on
He uninstalled it and refitted my old dryer
I claimed and received my £59
I am now waiting a response from Hotpoint
    That was 2 weeks ago
In the meantime I have ordered an AEG dryer which is being delivered in 6 days time
    Better save than sorry
    Hotpoint aught to be ashamed

Just wondering why some people are being offered replacements for £59? They quoted £99 for my replacement.

I really don't understand why anyone would pay for a lower quality replacement.
