Draughty rockdoor

Bob, I have been meaning to update the post and I take advantage of your message to do so.
My advice is... GO FOR A DIFFERENT MAKE!!
Yes, Rockdoor did accept the fault and yes, they did replace the door, BUT... after a few months the door is starting to behave EXACTLY like the old one. It is getting more difficult to close the door (as in to get the latch in the catch. After that securing is not a problem) and it is getting warped. I checked it the other day against a long piece of wood I have in the house and you can clearly see it (and yes, I have tried from both sides, so I can see it is concave on the outside and convex on the inside).
Also, the peep hole got all steamed up all the same in one occasion and there is still some draught coming form where the lock is (that could be due to the fact that the threshold was never properly insulated as the original fitter never came to finish it off in the end, or so fitter No. 2 told me).
So... is the house warmer? Yes considering that before it was bloody freezing.
Is the door worth 1200+ pounds (door + installation)? I have nothing to compare it with, but I doubt it.
is the door A++ rating justified? Not in a million years.
I have not phoned GAP yet because... I cannot muster the strength to do it.0 -
Annie, it is a lock that you can close on the inside without a key and it prevents you from locking yourself out (like you do with a Yale night latch). highly recommended
Sorry i didn't reply sooner, but never got a notification of your message, so perhaps it is too late0 -
Thanks Andre, you've stopped me in my tracks - I was very taken by the RockDoor brochure and all those claimed A++ Energy Ratings.0

I thought that perhaps I had been unlucky, but when my original fitter experienced the same problems as me I started wondering. Then, as someone suggested, the problem was in fact the fitter and not the door, and I bought that for a while. But now that slowly I am going back to where I was... well...0

...however I am more than happy with my pair of Rockdoor doors!0

Very dispiriting for you Andrea, sympathies0

Absolutely, SplanK. I am telling you only MY experience.
If this was Amazon, I would give my door 2 stars because the hall is noticeably warmer.0 -
Hi SplanK
I suppose even a faulty new door could be an improvement over an old existing door.
But have you had no draughts at all ??0 -
Pastures, I had TWO fitters. One was the Rockdoor approved fitter. I still have a small draught (not huge and better than before, but still annoying) and the door is difficult to close (my kids can't, and that is VERY annoying).
That's all I know and this is all I can in all conscience say.0 -

If the original frame wasnt fitted correctly by your installer you will have the same issues and the fact that the cill wasnt sealed by your installer points to the fact that he doesnt know what he is doing as i have said earlier that is a novice mistakeif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0
