Im not sure if its a stupid question, is the notice to complete 10 working days or 10 calendar days?
Also do new builds come with smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors?
Thanks In Advance
Ours was 10 working days (Bellway) but it'll depend on your builder.0 -
Hope that's the latest they push you back kirstypoos to give you at least a week before Christmas!
I'm really surprised you haven't exchanged yet, we had to within 30 days of reservation, even though it then got delayed but it was still over 3 months ago
Hope next week brings some better news for you0 -
Hi emmahayward89, hope all is going well for you? Although it's 10 working days, you can request completion at any time within that if your builder is agreeable. We were told that was the latest we could complete after they served notice but we didn't have to wait the full 10 days.
We are expecting notice to be served today but will be completing on Wednesday with the removal booked for Thursday! Fingers crossed!0 -
Me too Murray! Our buyer has just said if we aren't completed by 16th December she won't complete until after Christmas
We actually only reserved the house 6 weeks ago - we got 35 days to exhange but buyers solicitor is a pain in the bum so everything has fallen behind. The house was pretty far on the way to being finished when we reserved so it's gone nice and quickly:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Lets hope that gives people a firm push in the right direction kirstypoos!
I just can't believe how archaic the whole buying process is? Just seems to be a whole lot more stressful than it needs to be!0 -
Hi All,
I emailed our development today and have been told there is delays, they won't be applying for the CML sign off until next week.
At this stage its unlikely we will be in before Christmas.
Not good as our rental agreement ends on the 22nd December with new tenants moving in 23rd.
A bit disappointed that they haven't kept us up to date.0 -
Sorry to hear that emmahayward89, sounds like a nightmare for you. Do you have alternative arrangements you can make?:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Emmahayward89 I know how you feel! I was supposed to complete on 23rd Dec, but got the dreaded call a few days ago that they are behind schedule again and are now planning to issue the 2 week notice on 6th Jan, to tie in with a 20th Jan completion. I'm supposed to be out of my rental place by 8th Jan!!
That will make it a total of 5 months of building delays for me0 -
We will have to try and make arrangements, difficult with family not nearby though.
Just really disappointed, found out that they knew the delays yesterday morning but didn't think to let us know. I was emailing them just to check we were all on plan and they responded with the delays.
I knew it was a risk with only a week cut over between the house and our rental, they wouldn't put us on a rolling tenancy, it had to be an extra 6 months or nothing.
I hope you have had your notice kirtsypoos0 -
So sorry to everyone being delayed, hope it all works out ok for you.
We have just had a call to say our carpets are being fitted on Monday, our home demo is on Thursday and CML sign off is on Friday....it's looking like 16th will actually happen for us:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
