Thanks Lee hope all is well in your new build :)

Has anyone had issues with phone lines? We have been trying to arrange sky or virgin to come out but they are saying there is nothing showing on openreach for the new phase of the development and no one seems to be able to tell me why or how I can get this sorted...

  • We finally got our CML sign off today, solicitor has notice. Unfortunately Barratts won't complete less than the 10 days, so our completion is now set for the 22nd.

It means we won't be able to get flooring fitted before Xmas but at least we will be in the house the day we need to be out of our flat.

    Any news graciepie?

Hope your home demo went well kirtsypoos, we're yet to book one!

What a pain that they won't let you do less than the 10 days - our CML sign off is tomorrow and we exchanged today with completion set for next Friday....a lot happened for us today!

Home demo went well and I'm pleased with the overall finish but there are a couple of little niggles, mainly things like paintwork needs touching up, one of the bathroom fans is set to overrun for 10 minutes once the light is turned off but was still going an hour later. The main ones for me though are that there is a big chip out of one of the middle ceramic tiles in the kitchen/diner which it looks like they have tried to cover up with the kitchen units and some sealant  and the locks are broken to the patio doors which lead to the garden and a roof tile is cracked on the garage roof. Hoping this is all sorted by next Friday!!

Hello! I've been in Berlin hence why I've not replied. We got the call on Friday (whilst wandering around a Christmas market) to say the CML had finally been done! Notice has been served and completion is set for the 4th of January and home demo is next Tuesday! :j

Still won't be entirely convinced until we have some keys in our hands but I'm a sceptic :D

Are you excited for your completion date?!

Fab news Graciepie Hope you had a lovely time in Berlin :)

Emmahayward have you managed to book in your home demo yet?

We are all set for Friday...at least I think we are. Still working our way through the mountain of packing and having issues trying to set up suppliers at the new house - sky still can't set up broadband and TV can't be done until end of Jan

British Gas can't find the new house on the system so I can't process our home move with our current fixed deal unless I get the meter reference number which no one seems to have (apparently it may not have been assigned yet) so need to ring BG back and ask their meter asset manager to assign a meter reference number - I didn't know any of this stuff until this week so thought I'd put it all down in case anyone else has similar issues!

  • Hi Everyone

Our Home Demo is booked for tomorrow, any tips?

We're actually almost packed, just some furniture to take apart now

We're having a few issues with BT Openreach. Sky assure me its all fine and they will be coming to fit TV & Phone/Broadband on the 20th & 21st. BT are saying they don't know when phone lines will be installed/activated. The developer is saying they don't know and that BT Openreach is about 2 weeks behind schedule for connections.

I'm not really sure what we should do? I work from home a lot, and could really do with at least knowing if we will have phone/broadband.

We don't currently have Gas in our flat, so that's been easier for new account. Electric I'm just moving my account across.

Just look closely would be my tip, and don't be fobbed off (they tried to tell me they didn't have a key for the back door so I couldn't check outside or the outside tap) everything was fine but I wanted to make sure I checked everything.
Flush toilets and run taps to make sure there's no issue with water or drainage - that was what everyone told me and I'm glad we did as there was a loose fitting to the shower!

I've had the opposite with sky etc - openreach are telling me it's fine, sky are telling me we aren't on openreachs system

  • Thanks for the tips Kirtsypoos!

I'm excited and nervous today, it weird to think we will be moving into a house next week we haven't even been into!

How long did it take for your solicitor to send across the completion statement? When we got served notice last Friday she mentioned she would get it over asap, but haven't had anything yet?

It's so exciting to go in when it's almost yours! I just wanted to move my stuff in there and then :rotfl:

We exchanged on Thursday and given our official notice on Friday and got sent our completion statement on Monday so ours were pretty quick this time around but with our first purchase it took 5 days IIRC.

  • The home tour was ok!

None of our appliances had been fitted, the garden wasn't turfed, and it looked like they'd actually been tiling all morning!

Our shed was literally in the middle of the garden, on some concrete slabs. We had previously requested it be in one corner or to the side, so they are going to move it! Not quite sure who would want it in the middle!!

I am excited now, but feel like there's a lot to do in the next week.

Openreach hadn't connected anything, so I'm not quite sure what sky are coming to fit. But will give them a ring and see.

Only a few more days for you kirtsypoos, Good Luck with your move!
