lee111s hope you hear back about the earlier date soon!

Meanwhile I am getting more concerned about internet connectivity & my new build....I've asked the EA what infrastructure has been installed and got this in reply 'They are unable to confirm the lines as BT installed them.' So the developer has no idea what infrastructure is in place? I've been having a look on http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ at the three different plots of the development and they all get very different results. I was only asking in the first place because I wanted to be able to research my options whilst I wait to complete and now I'm actually getting a bit concerned that the developer is being cagey on purpose haha. More to stress about, especially after reading other people's experience, like Sussex girl! I'm with EE so I might see what kind of price I can get for their 4G home broadband. lee111s I looked up 4G routers but I'm kind of confused, do you get a 4G router and then sign up with a 4g provider? Or is it a router that will improve your normal broadband connection anyway?

Plus the 'notice to complete' the EA contacted me about has never materialised, and my sol contacted the developer's sol who said nope nothing has been sent out yet about completion. Cheers EA for getting my hopes up

Thanks but we've went ahead and agreed the 30th. Actually works out better as we have lots to organise and next Friday was going to be cutting it too fine :)

    Feeling much more relaxed already!

If you want to messsage me your postcode I'll have a look at what's available for you in terms of broadband...I have contacts ;)

A 4G router is a router you put a sim card into. You can get 30day rolling contracts from the likes of EE and offers a stopgap. There wouldn't be a whole loaf of data for streaming tv and the likes however you'll have too much to do intially to worry about that!
  • We've found Virgin Media brilliant. The cables were built into the house. They cam on the day of completion and set it up, so by the time removal men had gone and we had time to sit down and consider looking on the internet, we already had wifi. We also have 3 months completely free of 200mbp broadband, phone and TV package. So in a couple of months we'll decide whether to stick or move.
  • We've also just had an update, we have been told 23rd December all along, now suddenly the latest they want to complete is 16th! We're in rented at the moment so our 4 weeks notice will go in next week.

Starting to get excited now! Hoping that with it being bought forward we can get some flooring fitted before Christmas!

I'm currently with Sky and was going to port it across, hoping I wont have long issues as I need to work from home sometimes.

When we first reserved we were told December/January.

As above we're completing 30th Nov so it does happen. We had a dry September and October which allowed them to crack on with ours and more importantly the surrounding houses (from a H&S point of view) as they now are only doing internal work on those surrounding so no heavy machinery in our little cul-de-sac :)

ooo hope that happens to me too...my patience is running out lol
:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T

So your build is ahead of completion? I always wondered if that ever happened with new developments....

My originally quoted completion window at reservation was Aug/Sep/Oct, in the confirmation letter that arrived in the following week it moved to Jul/Aug/Sep. In the end I completed the purchase in the final week of July.
  • Hi all,

We still haven't exchanged but we have our options meeting next week (literally the most exciting thing right now!!)

We are unsure whether to go for the TW flooring option or to get our own fitters in. We could potentially save around £200-500 but we wouldn't be able to get the floor done until after completion and TW won't let us know the dimensions for the hallway and bathroom as apparently the plans don't show this...

They want £1903 for a 28m2 living room/kitchen using Amtico Spacia flooring. Is it worth just getting them to do it do you think due to 2 year guarantee and also the fact it will be done before completion? The fitters I have spoken to have said that even though it's a new build, the floor will most likely need levelling. Has anyone had experience with TW floors and whether they need levelling or a sub-floor?

Also, is a heated towel rail a necessity or a luxury?!

Only you will know if it's worth it. There are many alternatives to Amtico nowadays, we're getting CFS eternity luxury vinyl planks. We're paying less than £800 including screeding/fitting for £20 sq.m.

It's being fitted along with the rest of the carpets the day after we move in.

Poor form that they won't allow someone in to measure.

Our building site manager has been fantastic. Couldn't have asked for more from him really.

Fitted towel rails, like most extras, can be had for half the price of the "upgrades" offered by builders.
  • Hi All,

Things seem to still be progressing with us to (roughly) the time scales stated all along.

We're both just so frustrated at the lack of communication from sales staff, solicitors and the (seemingly!!!) 100 other people that you have to go through to get any answers!

What has the communication been like for you all?

We called up on Friday to check where we were with dates as notice to complete should be on the 2nd and we don't want to wait the 10 working days, so asked if we could complete on the 5th. We were then told that our home demo should have been last Friday and "Didn't anyone call you to let you know?" Well no they didn't and we are both very disappointed as they haven't allowed us anywhere near the property and this would have been the first time for us to see our plot.

They now can't say when or if we will get a chance to see the house before completion!

Thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks!

    That sounds pretty bad Murray87!

We have been to see our house twice so far, have another visit booked in for Saturday and will then have our home demo early december. Site have been mostly good at getting back to us, and the sales office have been great. We have one outstanding site query but I'm confident that will be sorted this week.

Hopefully you get your home demo asap so you can see your house!
