Congrats on getting in Pete!
We've been told roughly 28th October and we can have our carpets fitted w/c 17th October. I also need to order floor tiles so that we can lay them when we get in.
Here's the progress so far:

Pro-Tip for when you complete and move.
BT will give you a date that you want to cancel your old service. THIS WILL NOT BE THE DATE YOUR NEW SERVICE STARTS!
My OH was at home all today waiting for them but apparently even though we said we were moving last week, and our old service stops today, its going to be another week before we actually get our amazing 2004 quality internet installed and working.

EDIT: Apologies for venting above, they just make me so mad!

Yes 28th October. Our carpets get fitted 18th.
I've not even thought about BT yet but we have everything with them 0 -
How's everyone getting on? So I've started the treacherous task of curtain and light fitting hunting right tge move. Trouble is, I'm indecisive on the decor I want (thank you Pinterest) and don't have a never ending pot of money!
This weekend I started packing a bit. Felt great as binned 4 bin liners of stuff plus some suitcases. Feel cleansed!0 -
Hi swishy,
I'm due to complete on 31st October. Bought new blinds and curtain poles yesterday. Have picked all the lighting I want; mostly Next so going to see if any of it goes into the sale before buying full price.
I too have started packing although mostly ornaments, photo frames, summer clothes and stuff I know I definitely won't need between now and completion as its still 7+ weeks away. Constantly throwing stuff away...you don't realise how much rubbish you've accumulated until you have to pack it up lol and it's just me in a 2 bed house!
Getting very excited especially as it's now "next" month, as I'm sure you are too!0 -
Still awaiting to exchange, house won't be ready till December but just waiting on our solicitor dealing with a few queries for our buyer. Our solicitor said hopefull they'll be able to get us in to sign contracts before we go away on holiday next Tuesday (we're going with our buyers as they're friends of ours!) So as long as we're all signed, we should be able to exchange next week.0

I wish I was decisive! I just don't know what I want. I'm a perfectionist too to the extreme which drives me mad so I'm scared of buying something and not liking it!
I did the spare room wardrobe and my own wardrobe. And you're right. I said it will be easy, we don't have anything. Oh my god we've so much junk! My own wardrobe is practically empty now and the spare room wardrobe completely empty just with one box in there.0 -

I'm a perfectionist too! And this is the first house I will have owned so I want it to be totally perfect and lovely.
I'm the total opposite of a hoarder (my dad was a terrible hoarder; you couldn't move in our garage, shed, attic or spare bedroom when we were kids because they were full to the brim of "collected" stuff so I've always tried to be the opposite) but I've still found so much stuff I'd forgotten I had, don't need or want anymore, and is now in the bin!
Which builder are you buying from? Have you had any problems with them so far?0 -
Finally getting the key on Sunday, still not clear if we can actually complete on Friday as planned, waiting to hear if they got final building regs papers through today (or tomorrow), otherwise legal completion will have to be postponed till next week.
The builder has however given me permission to take up residence on Sunday, as planned, even if we haven't completed yet. Apparently none of the solicitors have any issues with this, so yey for that.
I've got DFS coming on Monday to put my sofas together, the new furniture is being delivered and put together next week Thursday (camping out on an airbed for a few days) and BT is coming next week Friday to install BT Vision and Fibre broadband. I had originally ordered Sky, but I decided to cancel based on price and the fact every time I've tried calling them, I spend over 30 minutes on hold. That's not worth paying twice what BT charges for. Still waiting to hear back from Sky as we speak to confirm the order has actually been cancelled...
Ordered all my lighting online, sitting ready to go with me to install. Trying to think of colors for some painted walls here and there and will have to get blinds measured up and ordered as soon as possible.
Also arranged for a few companies to come out and give me a quote for an electrical garage door next week...
Can't wait to get in, gonna be a busy few weeks...0
