We are also buying DW. We were offered move maker but did part ex instead. I couldn't be going with the risk of s chain etc.

    Where is the site?

    Good luck!

We're using the Help to Buy scheme (with plans to absorb it into a re-mortgage when our deal ends after 5 years) so they wouldn't let us do a part-ex.
We're in Telford, my lovely - you?

Meh, my completion date has just been pushed back by 10 days till the 9th of September. They are being slow issuing the CML paperwork as it's holiday time and it is holding everything up :(
  • Little update from me! We went to officially visit the house for the first time on Thursday (as opposed to the weekly peek through the fence!)

It's all coming along nicely - they originally advised there would be a week delay, but we are now back on schedule for a 30th September completion date. So so excited!

    We're in!

Did a bit of running around yesterday evening to pick up the keys and moved most of our stuff, went on quite late and I wanted to destroy our clunky bed that wasn't going together at 11pm but we're finally here and starting to unpack things.

General finish of the house is good, a few more minor things that need fixing but we're very happy with it :)
  • Can I join please?? :)

I'm a first time buyer, I reserved a plot for a 2 bedroom semi detached house by Keepmoat on a relatively small site of 79 new houses, at the beginning of June (when it was just foundations), exchanged contracts end of July, at which time I also selected all my interior options. My expected completion date is 31st October and I'm ridiculously excited!! I only live about a mile away from the site and can't keep myself from detouring there every few days to check progress and watch it grow. Yesterday the roof trusses wer put in place ready for the roof. I can't wait to go inside it and to see it all finished eventually!

I got divorced 5 years ago at which time my ex husband and I were living in rented accommodation and had not long started saving for a deposit on our own house. At that time I moved in with my parents to help me save my own deposit and to have their support. After a year there my relationship with my mom was suffering due to us spending too much time together and so I chose to move into my current rented house (since then me and my mom get on better than ever and although financially not the best decision it was definitely the right thing for me to do). And I've been saving ever since. I turned 30 earlier this year and wanted to buy a house this milestone year and I've finally made it possible! This house signifies a lot more than just bricks and mortar for me. It's the result of years of working really hard and saving hard, and being an independent woman achieving something really big on my own.

I'm so excited I could burst! Has anyone else bought a Keepmoat home? x

My previous house was a Keepmoat new build in Northampton. I'd say medium quality build, but their after sales service / snagging was quite good, even to my buyers after I sold it within 2 years. A window started leaking after they moved in, 3 months before the end of the 2 year snagging period. Keepmoat promptly had somebody in to replace it for them.

We've reserved a Bellway home and we're just waiting to exchange (should be in the next week or so). Just need to sign and pay the deposit.

Bellway are quoting December for our home to be ready, one side of the roof went on this week :D

We're buying a 4 bed 3 storey detatched so quite a lot of building to be done still but the windows should be in within the next 2 weeks!
  • Aww, Laura, I'm made up for you! Congratulations and well done on purchasing your own home - you must be so proud of yourself. Halloween sounds like a great day to move in!

Good to hear, glad you have not had any major problems.

What sort of snags did you discover?

We've had our keys for 5 days so far, but are not moving in until we've had all our flooring down. Should be done by the 31st so hoping to move in then. So far we've had an electrician round to fit 5 lights and have been collecting a list of snags. We've noticed a few scratches and scuffs on our door, a doorstop that is broken and some kitchen cupboards that have stains or scratches on them.

Not much, they will maybe have to replace the front door since there is some splashes from where they've cleaned the brickwork, some of the doors are very sticky from expansion with the heat over the last few weeks (I almost got locked in our ensuite yesterday!) there are odd bits of paintwork that need some touch ups and - whilst it isn't snagging - we realised our dinner plates are too large for the top cupboards!

Generally pretty happy though but we really need some flooring down soon as the concrete is not nice on the feet and very dusty but that should hopefully be sorted over the next couple of weeks.
