We finally got a date! Everything has been signed off and we're due to complete on the 26th of August
Just have to survive a weekend with the in-laws first

We got our keys today - really hard day of moving seriously amounts of heavy furniture - fortunately tomorrow is more lightweight stuff.
We're staying in the in laws (like we have been for weeks and weeks) because its easier and we'll be in early next week -really enjoying getting all setup - came good in the end.0 -
Just thought I'd put in an update! Our kitchen is due to go in this week and then the bathroom. Getting excited now!
Although we aren't allowed to go on site now as someone had an accident (a member of the building team who is ok thank goodness!!).
We are just in the process of sorting out carpets. We've been quoted, but obviously the need to actually go in and measure the rooms. I don't think they'll be allowed on site.Has anyone else had issues with carpet fitters not being let in to measure etc?

Our developer is more than happy to allow our carpet fitter in. And also let us in to look too. Just ask your fitter to contact the sales office.0 -
Got some pictures of my kitchen in yesterday. Amazingly, they finally got something right. Correct units, correct handles and as far as I could tell from the somewhat blurry images, the correct integrated white goods.
Still finding it hard to believe they intend to complete in just over 2 weeks. Judging by the mess of the sockets in the kitchen pictures, the electrician still has plenty to do and they haven't got a good track record for speed...0 -

We've got our familiarisation visit booked for Thursday, we poked our head around and noticed a bunch of yellow post it notes everywhere so I think they've got a few little bits to do, it will be interesting to see what they flag up.0 -

Good luck, here's hoping we don't see too many snags. :money:0 -
Hello all, I have posted a few times but thought I would give an update. I paid my deposit on a new build a small local development by a smallish building company, 30 houses on the site.
We finally exchanged contracts in June due to a delay with my buyers, we are moving out of our house at the end of August with a hope the new house is ready if not we will be at the in laws with our kids and pets! Not ideal but we our buyers wouldn't exchange without a fixed date.
We pay a weekly visit to the site and peep though the barriers, the house is painted inside, bathrooms done and the kitchen is now going in, on the outside the drive, garden and fence needs to be done. I am thinking it's unlikely we will be in at the end of the month as they do seem quite slow and they are doing 5 others at the same time.
The showtime is opening the first week in September so I think they will either get us in before or leave it to show people in for the big opening weekend... Does anyone know if they would do that?0 -
@ Cupcake, they would. I had it with the Keepmoat house we bought a few years back. They pulled all the people working on our plot away for a month to work on the show home, so they could get it ready in time for Easter weekend. Many people have a hard time buying just from plan, so a show home is a big sales point for them.0
