We have the same disabled requirement which drove a different basin in ours which made the downstairs bathroom look VERY ugly.

We just made sure they tiled all behind the basin and will fit our own design shortly (we've been in a week so far).

That's interesting, thanks for letting us know. Did you get a refund or anything? We wouldn't have minded so much if we had been informed.

No refund, its apparently to do with building regulations - we weren't overly bothered - we are actually getting used to the sink now - but wont keep it much longer - just got more important things to sort out first :)

The best advise I can give anyone considering buying a new build is do not pay much attention to the show home state - they dress them up to the hilt - its like looking at any other house, look at the space and decide what you will do, dont worry about what they will do.

Agreed. We found out that we don't have the same porch as the show home, they sent us the plans to prove it (which we don't ever remember seeing) so instead of a nice tiled pointy one we've got a pretty standard looking flat one, it looks loads cheaper but we're so close to completing I'm not sure what we can do about it now. :(

We were offered a refund for the basin today as we got the keys, so we're happy. Overall it seems like Taylor Wimpey did a really good job with our property and they even helped us source a carpenter to carry out some odd jobs we need doing. Very happy, now begins the hard work.

That's a shame Pete, it was too late for ours to be changed but we are happy to get a refund. Perhaps you can push for that?

From our experience - we didnt get a refund as there was no more money in the pot for them to give us any - we basically had them pay £8,500 of our extras bill.

We werent about to argue over a £100 sink unit :D

How did you manage to get £8500 worth of extras for free?

We put down the first part of our reservation fee on our new David Wilson home and we're using their MoveMaker scheme. The first agent came in today to take pics and measure up and the second will be in tomorrow, followed by the EPC/Floorplan bloke.

Has anyone else here used the DWH movemaker scheme?

My stomach is a washing machine of anxiety, excitement and tiredness lol

A few delays to the date but primarily because my mortgage value down valued the property - so they decided to d a deal whilst maintaining the price of the property :)
