Does anyone want to join me waiting for new build to be built and complete

Good luck with it Swishy, I'm sure it will all be fine
I'm quite envious Blibble, our extras come in a £1k and we felt that was stretching us a little, we're buying and installing all of the downstairs flooring ourselves to save costs!
We got news yesterday that our backwards sink will be fixed, they're going to replace the whole worktop to do it, hopefully it shouldn't too major a job it just would have being nice if they had got right first time. Still no news on dates though, our mortgage offer is up in September so I'm really hoping it will be before then.
Just a quick question of everyone whilst I'm here. One of the things that has annoyed me most about this whole process has being the lack of commitment from TW about the dates for our build, I get why they do it but it is very aggravating. So, as I am a web developer by trade I was thinking of creating either a website or a shareable Google sheet of the progress of new build properties. People can put in their dates and these can be used to compare with others to give a rough indication on how long these things could take. Would anyone be interested in this?
We are flooring the entire house ourselves. I am hoping for less than £3k but depends on the tiles we pick!
I've no idea what stage we are at! Plastering but I don't know if we will be done by end of September! We get 10 days notice of completion.0 -
Finally got a chance to upload the photos to DropBox - https://www.dropbox.com/sc/81g8hfcxdhjldwu/AABeCMJRYRRe08FbAnIJ2fNra
They're from various stages from just after reservation through to pre-plaster and two visits in the last month.0 -
love the kitchen! looks really nice!
we are still waiting for a buyer on our existing property. TW advised to drop the price and in return they would pay stamp duty and flooring, which we've done. New house is supposed to be ready in a couple of weeks (made several drive bys). Just keeping everything crossed we can sell before TW decide to re-advertise the new house0 -
Haven't posted in a while..
We chosen our flooring a few weeks ago. We went for:
Amtico in hall, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and ensuite, carpets on stairs, landing and bedroom. Came to £5800.
Here is our timeline so far:
28/11 - early bird reservation, 3 bed, TW est Jun/Jul
31/1 - went through official reservation forms
13/3 - HTB ATP
14/3 - Mortgage application sent via broker
17/3 - Contracts finally sent out by TW
17/3 - Went for site visit, too "unsafe" to go to plot
22/3 - Mortgage offer received
12/4 - options meeting £7.3k
03/5 - Exchanged
13/5- confirmed flooring choices £5.8k :eek::eek:
Update from us:
12/6 - told it would be AUGUST
15/7 - delayed until October - problems with water/gas into dev, but apparently inside of house is complete. Just external (garden, car ports. roads, pavements etc to go)
Our mortgage offer will expire before we complete, not sure where we stand with this.. and TW refused a long stop date in our contract.
VERY annoying...0 -
In peoples experience, do new build completion dates usually get pushed back?0

Ours is two weeks late...0 -
Mine was pushed back 6 days!0

Did they give a reason?
Ours say October/November which is pretty vague (covering 8 weeks) so I am hoping closer to the time they will be a bit more specific.0 -
We don't know for definite until 10 days before. But we've been told roughly last Friday of September. I'm in no rush. More time to save if it takes longer.0

It varies - ours had issues with trades being available. They have compensated us when they didnt legally have to as there was no completion date in the contract - got about £600 worth of things out of them for the two week delay.
They refused to put a date in the contract when we exchanged as too far out0
