Great, cheers! Don't suppose you could add two more questions:

    1. Location? [before the home builder]
    2. Based on your experience would you recommend them? [before any comments]

Is it to fill in once complete?

No, fill in what you can when you can! There is a link to the editable spreadsheet once you have submitted if you need to make any changes.

    Original completion: November 2015
    Pushed back to December 2015
    Pushed back to March 2016
    Pushed back to May 2016
    Pushed back to June 2016
Pushed back to end of July 2016, first time date also communicated to my sols via official channels
Pushed back to 17-24 August 2016 (firm week for completion, exact day depending on when they receive the required certificates and if they find anything in their own final inspection).

    It's been a long journey.

Delays are normal for newbuilds, but I'd say anything over 2 months is unlikely.

Sounds good swishy, looks like you are making decent progress, don't worry about it, everything will be fine :)

Congrats at finally completing AlexLuna, I hope the wait has been worth it :)

It sounds like you've got a fair amount going on mleach101, can't believe the insurance would do such a thing without a bit more notice!

As far as news from us goes, it's been a pretty positive week so far.

Anyway, we went to see the house for the first time legitimately over the weekend and it's certainly coming along, there is paint and plaster and tiles and everything! One concern we have it that they seem to have stuck our sink in backwards, meaning the drainer is on the wrong side to the plans, it's not the end of the world but we would prefer it the other way so hopefully they will fix it. We took some pictures which you can see at

We also got news that my change in job has being given the OK by the bank, so there is no need to panic on that front, which is a mild relief to say the least!

And we've now moved out of our rented place and into my OHs parents very warm top floor flat, most of our stuff is with a family member for the moment so we are living with just the bear essentials for now. Her parents don't live here full time as it's more of a holiday home for them but it still certainly doesn't feel like our own.

It feels really close now, TW are still not giving us even a month when it will be ready but we are hoping/guessing/praying that it will be in the next 3 weeks.

    Only time will tell though.

    Hi Pete,

Been following your progress with interest as we've bought a TW house in Norwich at Hampden View. We're hoping to move in late August, assuming there are no delays.

Are you at Queens hill or Hampden view?

Oh cool! We're actually at Broadgate Park in Sprowston. My OH's aunt recently bought another TW at Hampden View, they had a lot of snags but this was before the TW change in procedure when it comes to snagging checks so your milage may vary.

News from us is that the water is now attached, which means all of the utilities are now in. The internal doors are in and they're doing the finishing touches and carpets left before the NHBC and TW checks, fingers crossed this should mean we're in before the end of August.

We got the NHBC notification at the end of last week - were due in from the 12th But.

We did a site visit at the weekend and noticed three glaringly big issues with the house. I have the demo this week, where I will be doing the final audit an if they don't fix these issues we will be refusing to complete.

Its so damn stressful its not even funny.
  • Having checked your pictures again i can just about make out the Broadgate park sign. :p

We had a look round the Broadgate site a few weeks back, it seems like it's quite early in production as there were not a lot of houses there. Certainly looks a good area to build on with lots of open space and fields around. Queen's hill looks like a bit of a nightmare with only one road in and out.

Wishing you the best of luck that you don't have many snags. It's looking like we'll get our 10 days notice within a week or so.

What happened @visidigi? Nothing too major I hope!

@kinsandkinnies, yea its super early doors at Broadgate, we had a couple of friends move into a Hopkins Homes home back in December and they were the first ones there! Thankfully, I think we are guaranteed to have some green space between us and the golf course which should be nice. Sprowston was our only real option as the transport links going out the city were just not going to good enough seeing as we don't currently have a car.

What type of house are you going for?

We went for a Flatford 3 bed semi detached. Hampden View seems very popular so we had no room to haggle on extras or anything else. To be honest we were just glad we managed to grab a property there back in February.

The value of Flatford's at Hampden has gone up by £15K since we reserved ours. At the Taylor Wimpey site in Dereham, Elting View, Flatford's were going for £30,000 less than what we paid! But Dereham was just too far out in the middle on nowhere for us. The location at Hampden we are really happy with.

    What did you go for?

    Had our demo.

    Absolutely livid.

Due to move in next week - they have fixed one of the items we gave them - and we found 4 more today.

They have a significant alignment issue with the main window bay in the lounge - both internally and externally - its the sort of issue I wont move in over.

We're going to be having a serious discussion tomorrow with our '5 star' builder.

And apparently they say they don't fix 'shrinkage'

Heck even persimmon fix that. I am absolutely livid.

This is not a pleasure, but it is a life changing experience.

I actually thought it was normal not to fix shrinkage if I am honest. Who's the builder?
