Does anyone want to join me waiting for new build to be built and complete

Greetings from Panama,
my last bit of internet access for a month, while we head over to Korea with our ship.
Have been using the opportunity to get updates on my new build. I was a bit worried with all the Brexit shizzle the banks would get cold feet ans start pulling/reassessing mortgage offers, luckily this doesn't seem to be the case and my offer is still as firm as ever.
Completion is still on for the end of July and I should hopefully be getting some pics of the place as it stands now sent to me tomorrow.
All funds are in place, just a matter of time now...0 -
We went and reserved our plot today! I was terrified!!!! So tomorrow is instruct a solicitor and sort our mortgage!
They said we will have our pre plaster tour in a few weeks.
So we are aiming for an exchange by August and complete end of September. How likely that is I don't know!
I still can't believe we have done it. So scary as I do love my current house.
So carpet shopping too now.0 -
This thread has been a bit quiet recently, how is everyone getting on?
Good news and bad news for us, bad news is that we have officially slipped to August as apparently there are problems with the installation of the utilities. We had another sneaky look the other day and there are pipes and cables sticking up all over the place so I think I believe them! This now means that I'm going to be switching jobs before we move, hopefully it's not the end of the world but it's far from ideal.
The good news is that we are going to be able to go for our first official site visit next week! We haven't seen the upstairs or bathrooms at all so it will be interesting to see how far along all that stuff is.0 -
Sounds exciting though Pete! And a new job too.
We had our pre plaster tour today. It was fab. Helped me decide we were doing the right thing. Our mortgage application went in on Wednesday and valuation is Monday. Fingers crossed that we get that accepted okay. I am such a worrier by nature though and worrying about everyting! I won't relax until we exchange.0 -
Hello,
quick update from me. We completed on the 30th June and it has taken till now to get the internet because openreach hadn't sorted the cable. We have had a few hiccups, we had to have takeaway for 5 days as the oven and hob were faulty, we paid for a garden tap and gate as extras but they hadn't been done, needed a radiator replacing as it was broken. But aside from that, we are really happy with the quality of the house. I was expecting many awful things after reading reviews on the internet about persimmon, but the house is lovely. So pleased we went for a new build. Now all the initial hiccups are out of the way we can really start enjoying it.
Completion day was horrible though. I was already on the edge of a nervous breakdown, I am a terrible worrier and I was panicking that they were going to pull the plug on the mortgage even though I knew they had no reason to. Then about midday we got the call from the solicitor saying the purchase had gone through and we could pick up the keys and confirmed that they were expecting us. So off we went and they said we couldn't have them yet as they hadn't been told we had completed by their solicitors. I went home and cried!!! Finally got the keys at 3.30. And a big apology for the miscommunication. Anyway, i'm rambling, good luck with all your purchases!0 -
Well yesterday we had confirmation that we had a mortgage offer. So now we are waiting for the solicitor to get us to exchange. But then we have to wait until late September/October to complete0

How's it going for everyone?
We are currently going through our contract ready to sign. Just wondered if anyone else came across something similar in their contract? The builder has set a restriction that, although freehold, we must seek permission from the management company of we wish to sell the house or change our mortgage provider in the future (something to do with land registry). There will also be a fee to pay for this permission. I have looked around and seems to be something out there about this and our developer, just wondered if it was common for other developers too.0 -
So, had a bit of a nightmare yesterday. Complete next Friday hopefully but heading off abroad with work for five weeks. Thought it best to clarify the insurance situation regarding being absent having not set foot in the property as owner, turns out they decided to cancel the policy so this morning amidst all the scrambling to pack and get ready for a longish deployment I had to get insurance arranged. Also got a speeding ticket through the post that had been delayed due to having moved but that's a bit off topic.
On the positive side, I saw the house almost finished at the weekend and it's exactly what I hoped it would be, kitchen looks amazing. Garage is larger than expected and the Garden feels a nice size. Also booked in the snagging surveyor today so that will be done while I'm away. Roll on the 29th and being a home-owner!0 -
Just been in and signed the contracts ready for exchange, hopefully next week! Eeek. I am now terrified!0

Sounds good swishy, looks like you are making decent progress, don't worry about it, everything will be fine
Congrats at finally completing AlexLuna, I hope the wait has been worth it
It sounds like you've got a fair amount going on mleach101, can't believe the insurance would do such a thing without a bit more notice!
As far as news from us goes, it's been a pretty positive week so far.
Anyway, we went to see the house for the first time legitimately over the weekend and it's certainly coming along, there is paint and plaster and tiles and everything! One concern we have it that they seem to have stuck our sink in backwards, meaning the drainer is on the wrong side to the plans, it's not the end of the world but we would prefer it the other way so hopefully they will fix it. We took some pictures which you can see at https://goo.gl/photos/sGHaPk69W6XXa45X7
We also got news that my change in job has being given the OK by the bank, so there is no need to panic on that front, which is a mild relief to say the least!
And we've now moved out of our rented place and into my OHs parents very warm top floor flat, most of our stuff is with a family member for the moment so we are living with just the bear essentials for now. Her parents don't live here full time as it's more of a holiday home for them but it still certainly doesn't feel like our own.
It feels really close now, TW are still not giving us even a month when it will be ready but we are hoping/guessing/praying that it will be in the next 3 weeks.
Only time will tell though.0
