I use a steam mop on my vinyl and also on my liminate works fine and comes up well.

My first lot of finance checks have been ok so I'm hoping I can pay my deposit asap.

The house is up, the roof is on but needs to have the tiles put on, no windows or doors yet, they say June/July.... Hoping as its on the outside of the development it will be sooner as I won't have to wait for the road etc

So pennyprincess, not only do you have a similar kitchen, sounds like you've picked the same furniture! We're having white hemnes in the bedroom and the hat rack under the stairs!
  • Very weird lol : My Hemnes list so far is

Hemnes Bedroom set (double bed, wardrobe , chest of drawers etc)
Hemnes Cabinet maybe for kitchen for glassware /drinks cabinet
Hemnes cabinet and Tv stand in Living room
Hemnes Shoe storage for hallway and Hat stand for understairs coats bags etc. Love white furniture!
pennyprincess - getting more for less:p
  • What is the 'service charge' for your development? Our property is freehold but still a communal areas and lighting for the roads is chargeable. It seems common councils don't want to adopt new development roads any more. I was hoping for an end to service charges as we are moving from a leasehold but hey ho.

Ours has been quoted as £250 per annum just worried this might rise?

Ours is around £120, they cover things like the lights and roads, up keep of the parks / communal areas for things such as football pitches or tennis courts and a few other bits, some of this stuff may get handed off to the council once the whole development is finished.

It sounds like there are no caps on it but since they are audited it (hopefully) shouldn't be too horrible.

Ours is £180 and when we got the contract through it had next year's at just over £200, so not capped either.

I think ours is £120 but we are not liable until TW have finished and left the development which will be in about 3-4 years time

You guys got lucky! Our charge is £423 per annum, but I think this is mainly due to a smaller site, think there's only 18 plots on our site.

We have to pay £160 leasehold fee a year which will increase every 10 years in line with inflation. We also have to pay £40 a year for maintenance of the riverside. The site is situated in the curve of a river, so it's surrounded on 3 sides, and they have opened up all the riverside and are making a little wildlife park and introducing wildlife and things which should be nice!

House is up to the top of the 1st floor windows now so hopefully the roof will be going on soon. The house next door but one has just had its roof put on and it looks lovely. Can't wait to see what mine looks like with a roof!

Your own little riverside nature reserve sounds amazing!
