    Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of update on my part, been interesting having a catch up through the posts though.

Our update is that we got our notice to complete on Friday so complete on the 1st April and over the moon.

We also got to go in and have a walk around the house about a week ago which was great and i'd recommend everyone push the developer to do it. It meant we could measure up for blinds and wardrobes and was just great to see the house. Apart from a bit of touching up on paint it was pretty much done then anyway.

    Good luck all.

Reserved just over two weeks ago and in that time I've managed to get a mortgage offer (three days from application to offer, thanks to L&C). HTB also all done and did my choices on Friday.

So all going well should be exchanging in the next couple of weeks and should complete in July, August or September. It's a four bed semi, three story townhouse on a Barratt Homes development.

Managed to get a look around a plot that's complete as well which doesn't help to calm the excitement and have also seen my house from a distance, which amazingly is already as high as the first floor!

Market is clearly doing well as there was zero room for negotiation but based on how quickly things go from release to reservation (same day in most cases round here!) then I was prepared for that.
  • Hi All.

A newbie to this thread and to the forums though I have been a lurker to MSE Forums for years.

My partner and I have reserved a 3 bed semi on a TW site not far from my parents home in Greater Manchester. :j

We had been looking at them and as they are selling so quickly on the type of property that we wanted was so glad to finally get our hands on it, after being pipped to the post the previous week.

Looking at an August build date at the moment.

We are meeting the site manager on Thursday as well as having a meeting with our Financial Advisor.

I'm so excited and can't wait to look at our options in more details, already know what we want in most part but just need to confirm if they are upgrade items.

We got £2000 for carpets thrown in when we reserved though we didn't ask for this.

Already had offer in principle on mortgage with Santander so just need to get the ball rolling further when see Financial advisor on Thursday.

Got word on Friday that our estimated completion date has gone from 22nd April to 20th May. This is the 4th time it's been delayed.

We're now free to walk away without penalty. MD is calling me tomorrow apparently to discuss. Will be interested to see what they have to say/offer.
  • @Derboy are you TW .. Sounds so familiar unfortunately, why can't they get it done for your long stop date, they still have a month ?!
I am on their case big time at my development now we are in the final few weeks before our long stop.

Good luck with the MD, I think they assume they can get away with it as you are emotionally invested and have waiting so long already.. Keep us posted !!

No not TW. I'll spill the beans as to the developer once things have moved along a bit. For all I know the guy I'm waiting to speak to reads this forum!

Development is almost complete with ours and one or two others the only ones to be finished. No idea why the delays but will hopefully find out the reasons for it tomorrow. I'll report back once I've had the conversation.
  • Apparently we have a mortgage offer due out in the post! i'm so pleased I did not have to go on holiday worrying about that - now just the exchange to sort out ( which will be a bit tricky as we are away for two weeks) hopefully the offer will be here before Thurs. i feel like once I am back i can finally start sorting stuff out - my ikea list is getting longer by the day and I have added a bean to cup machine and a dualit toaster to my list of new home essentials! I have not dared asked about the build complete dates may just ring them up in a min and check on the pretence of keeping them updated re: the mortgage!
