If you're about the house during the day, fill a water spray/plant mister with a mix of water with some Tabasco and squirt it at the cats whenever you catch them at it

Also, if it were persistent and I knew who owned the cat, I'd collect it up and return it to the owner. I do think it's outrageous that dog owners are expected to clean up after their pets (and by and large, are generally very good at it) whilst if you ask a cat owner to clean up after their pets, they shrug their shoulders and say "what do you want me to do about it?"

Either it's a domestic animal, in which case the owner has to take responsibility for it, or it's a wild animal, in which case they may be treated as vermin, given that cat poo can be very dangerous, especially for pregnant women and small children.

I read that a cat is regarded as a wild animal.
I don't like cruelty to any animal but I squirt water on the ones I see in my garden, I also have a battery operated plastic frog which croaks when someone passes by, so that scares them a bit. Seems terrible that you can just let the cat out to poo ( but never on their own garden!) but a dog owner would be fined.

They also hunt the wild birds in my garden.
Annoying also that it is "we" spending money on deterrents for someone else's animal:mad:

Was just looking around for more ideas and came across some cat rods. Basically sticks that i presume you put in the soil so they dont have room to do their stuff. Surely any old sticks would do? I have lots of flower beds and have tried filling them as much as i can but obviously not enough. So maybe if i put some sticks in the bare parts they may keep them at bay...or just wishfull thinking lol. Well i will try it out and let you know if it works :-)

get a cat or 2 of your own. or a dog. Cars are territorial and won't go in other cats domain
  • fill a clear 1litre or 2litre pop bottle with water to the top, screw on the top, then place bottle in garden on earth near plants,or placed in garden earth at an angle.
when cats look into bottlle,is scared off by reflection looking back at it.
    mouse chasers not very bright.

since this is in my home part it seems the best place to put this.

ok, i have a damn cat that poos in the garden, i have no grass only blue slate chips, this is the place where the cat seems to want to poo all over.

anyone got any tips to stop the cat from pooing in the garden, maybe something i can buy from the pet shop that lasts a long period of time.

    anyone got any ideas please.

Since it's your own cat, can't you train it to use a litter tray? If you put something on your garden, it'll only start doing it in your neighbours gardens. Trust me, your neighbours will be much less sympathetic to your cat's well-being when trying to stop it fouling their gardens.

I heard that you can use leftover coffee grounds to keep cats off your garden - apparently they don't like the strong odor.

It is your cat better it does it in your garden than someone else's, nothing worse than going out into your garden to find someones cat is using it as a toilet.
