I am not sure what it is called. It is a bit like a small lilly with yellow flowers and has orange/brown strips on the petals.
Have tried staying up but not seen it so must sense I am about. No camcorder.

I have found the name of the plants. They are Peruvian lillies.
What ever it is does not seem to go onto the other plants in the garden.

Might not be a cat if it keeps coming back as lilies, when eaten or brushed against (pollen) by cats can cause an extremely nasty death. Not sure if it's the same for other animals i use to have them in my garden and have taken them out as at the time had rabbits that run around near them.

I've got 3 cats, in my first year of gardening I tried small wire fencing, which didn't work. It seems my older cats don't bother now but the youngest is a nightmare. I decided that there really no point in telling her off as will never understand. This means that one of my beds has stuff growing everywhere, not in the rows I originally sowed. This makes no difference to how it all tastes though. Carrots, onion and garlic all mixed up, with some spud plants that appeared from the 'volunteers' from last year. I actually find it quite funny now. May even just chuck seeds in next year as it all grows anyway. I'm in year 3 of gardening and learned so much that I've managed to encourage some friends too. Brilliant to see my friend's 3 year old little boy tending his carrots!

In the past few days we suddenly find a number of cats starting to use our front garden to do their business. Any suggestions to prevent this. I know you can buy those green pellets but any other options I wonder?

1 Bucket of Water

2 Water Pistol

3 Garden-style pressure sprayer, filled, pressurised and at the ready.

4 B&Q's Cat & Dog Ultrasonic Pet Repeller - hand-held 'gun' device, like a green pistol with a megaphone. Sends out LOUD ultrasonic signal to annoy the cats & dogs no end. Very effective so far, in my experience. Not so effective on very windy days, as the sound carries away

Thanks Googler.

I assume water should be brought to boiling before using. (Cat lovers - only joking).

Hi, I am a cat lover, and had 2 cats, now down to 1.

There are a number of cats in my street and they are using my front garden too to do their needs.

I dug up all the grass and put down golden quartz chips 3 years ago - BAD MISTAKE!!

All the cats in the street, including my own, uses it as a cat's public convenience...and I am going mad...as I am the one that lifts the cat dirt.

There is also a cat peepee smell wafting about the front garden, and it can get very noticeable on a hot day
So, cat lovers can get annoyed with cats too :o

Try clearing away offending mess and sticking a bit of holly in the ground where they like to go - worked for our regular little visitor!

Hello pastmybest

I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board, where the board guide might want to merge it with the existing thread 'Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)'.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Regards
