Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)

We have tried everything, Moth balls (they poo'd over the top of them) Water bottles (they poo.d next to them) water bottles with holes to let the water trickle out (they drank from them) human urine (not bothered) Carpet tread on the fence (scratching post) vaseline on the fence (just dig their claws in) cumin and chilli seeds and cloves and cardemon pods and curry powder and ground pepper and garlic granules and onion granules (work for a while but get washed away every time it rains, and they like to poo in the rain for some reason) we got rid of our grass and put large slate chips downs (they poo on the slate) chopped onion and garlic (once again works for a little while but makes your garden look and smell horrible)
I think in winter the best option seems to be twigs and branches along with pea netting over the top as they can't get a foot hold, however they just decided to poo on our decking instead.
We did try citrus fruit and the slugs loved those, didn't bother the cats.
We tried those electronic devices, they cheeky felines just knocked them over!!!! We're not dealing with the average cat, I think they're satan's own pets
I don't know what more we can do, but hopefully one of our efforts might help other people out their0 -
If I ever caught the dirty sumbags I will rub their noises in it.I swear their owners tell them before they go out not to s**t on their own doorstep. :mad:0

Please does any one know a natural remedy to keep cats off a garden. My daughter has a rabbit so it needs to be safe for that.
We had a lovely display of plants till I think it is a cat, has we never see it. It is just comming at night. Probally from the local stables or farm.
It has happened for the last 2 years and seems to just go to this type of plant we have in the garden. The plants are about 2 ft tall now all flatened.0 -
It doesn't sound like a cat to me.
Are the plants randomly flattened or in a pattern?
What kind of plant is it?0 -
Hello belleyetere
I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board, where the board guide can merge it with the existing thread:
Help!cats using my garden as a loo
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. The only sure-fire way to keep another cat out of your garden is to get your own.
People may suggest things like lemon juice or all manner of other things but none have ever worked for my mum. Sorry, no help here ...0 -
It could be badgers or foxes, especially badgers as they are much more nocturnal and can be quite destructive, perhaps they are rooting out bulbs? It could be a cat but they generally leave 2ft plants alone. I'd try and find out what the animal is before working out how to deter it.0

It is like the have gone in and laid down. It has to be something which can get over a six foot fence and hedge has the garden has chain link fenching all round and it is burried into the ground so nothing can get under it.0

What type of plant is it could it be catmint a cat will flatten thatI would like to be a glow-worm.
A glow-worm's never glum.
Its hard to be downhearted when the sun shines out your bum.0 -
I'd agree with paulwf. It doesn't sound like a cat, but more like some kind of wildlife. ( I do like Gloomendoom's suggestion of who it could be, though! ;-) )
Could you either stay up one night or set a video camera up to see what it is? That way, it might be easier to work out the best deterrent to use.0
