since this is in my home part it seems the best place to put this.
ok, i have a damn cat that poos in the garden, i have no grass only blue slate chips, this is the place where the cat seems to want to poo all over.
anyone got any tips to stop the cat from pooing in the garden, maybe something i can buy from the pet shop that lasts a long period of time.

Hello silkyuk9
I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board, where the board guide can merge it with the 'Help!cats using my garden as a loo' thread.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

i think you will just have to put up with it and clear it up when it does poo,not a lot you can really do about it, i used to with our cat do 2-3 checks round the garden each day to poo pick,it was just routine and something i had to do,one of the responsibilities to owning a pet im afraid:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Hi silky
I posted this same problem on here last week. The cats (not sure if its mine or neighbours) were pooing all over my veg patch:mad: I have now covered the area with some chicken wire which has helped alot. One poster suggested putting olbas oil on teabags and another putting orange peel on the area. I actually purchased some cat repellent which smells of pure garlic lol!! It has a very strong smell which even repulsed me lol. Have put that down where my runner beans are and voila no cats poo to be seen!0 -
I have a similar problem, I've just tried to go through that post but nothing fab about it as people having a debate.
From what I read pepper orange peel a bucket of water and a water pistol or spray gun apparetly is what the RSPCA told someone on that post.
I'm going to give the pepper a go.Trying to make big cut backs!!!

Could you dig over a patch and fill with their usual litter? Take them to the place (several times if necessary).
Then gradually reduce the amount of litter. If you could shelter that spot from rain it would help. They are looking for something comfortable and wet paws and a wet bum are not.
I do this and de-poo it every so often. You could pop a few short sticks (upright) where they are messing which will stop them (they don't like being poked in the bum) but they will find somewhere else to go - make it your choice of place.
My neighbours have cats and hard-standing only so their mogs poo in other people's gardens.

OP - how long have you had this cat?
Where did you think it was going to poo when you got it?
Have you got a litter tray, and have you tried to 'encourage' the cat to use the litter tray?
Or, did you just assume it would wander the neighbourhood and poo in someone else's garden so that you wouldn't have to worry about it?0 -
I agree with Jacey - I 'trained' my cat to go in a particular part of our garden (it was when we moved though so she was new to the garden) - she had started to go right outside our patio doors which not only smelt horrible but was horrible to watch too - especially at tea time
I started putting litter where I wanted her to go and whenever I let her out, carried her to the litter where she happily did her business. Eventually I stopped putting litter on the dirt. Also, it was always in the same place so I knew where to go and clear up.
If you put cat off type products down, the cat will go next door and you will end up with unhappy neighbours and we all know.....'everybody needs good neighbours' !!0
