What a horrible bloody thing to say!!!
I cant personally think of anything to prevent cats from pooing in your garden, but is there any way that you could possibly keep a bit of your garden , just a small square, and dig it on a regular basis?
Cats love freshly dug earth, then maybe they would keep off the rest of your garden.
I also tend to find cats dont usually poo on lawns, that could be foxes.0 -
I have tried everything. The cats around here do it on the path, on gravel, even on top of my heathers:eek:. The electronic thing worked initially but then they got used to it. The only thing that has reduced it drastically is squirting them with water everytime I catch the !!!!!!s. I keep a filled water pistol on each front windowsill.:rotfl:I'm quite a good shot now too.0

It is disgusting that there is £1000 fine for allowing dogs to poop on pavements etc but nothing is done when cats do it in other peoples gardens.
The RSPB have some advice on cat deterrents.

I have tried everything as well, I do not know which method is now working as the cat although comes in the garden but has not done any poo. I have put bamboo sticks round the edge to stop him coming in the lawn, I still do not know how he gets there. Last week I watched him carefully walking in my garden and trying to avoid the bamboo sticks during the day. I have also roses and prickly twigs which I have scattered all over the flower bed, needless to say I am the one who is always pricking my finger when doing the garden, they are such a nuisance. The cat also does it everywhere over the plants, on the lawn and on the pavement but it is about once a week. I have used the sonic it is heavy on batteries, I have used chillies flakes, garlic and now moth balls. Moth balls are not very good if you have children . It does seem that different method work for different cat. Having said that I am sure I will have a present on the lawn tomorrow. I am getting obssessed with it as I examine the garden everyday. You can use jeyes fluid on the pavement etc and see whether that will stop them.0

Find someone who keeps snakes... I was plagued by cats in my garden until i started keeping snakes & placed their poo around the place, haven't seen one since. The cats smell a predator & scarper elsewhere, i can vouch that it works a treat.......... :beer:What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

I thought about that but my husband said better not : if the neighbour saw me I'd get a thump I'm sure.0 -

I can't really my youngest child is under 2 and I can see her heading straight for it, also my garden is quite small. IMO this is what the owner should be doing.nitaloztom wrote: »I also tend to find cats dont usually poo on lawns, that could be foxes.0 -
Some very good ideas...thanks all. Will keep me busy for a few weeks ;-)0

This worked for me. We had a very persistant cat which continuously fouled the gravel in front of the house
jeyes fuid helped a bit but what really worked was a catwatch
I have had useless cheaper versions in the past but the genuine catwatch was fantastic. The wire connects to the electric point by crossing the double glazing. It was 100% effective but expensive. I now have 2, one in the back as well and tbh no cat has crossed my patio since then and there are about 20 cats roaming the large communal gardens0 -
I don't think anything works that well. There are lots of cats on our estate most think that my garden is their toilet. Most the cat owners do not have flower beds and so mine seem to be the comunal area. I have thorns over my flower beds in the front so they have decided just to ***** on my lawn instead. My back garden gets hit less but I use alot of deterants.
Orange peel works alittle
Cayanne pepper - not really as it washes away
Jeyes fluid on tea bags works till it rains
Best deterent is to grow lots and cover your beds so cat can't get on them.0
