One of my friends said that peeled orange skin over the grass worked for her, I keep meaning to try this out as neighbours cats are a nightmare

You could also try chilli powder, or squirting water at them (just from one of those mister things not to hurt them).
• so happy i found this thread....I am going absolutely mad with the neighbours cats pooping in the garden, also just outside the front door....had guests come in the evening , they didnt notice the fresh poop, stepped on it ..its all over the hallway carpet...smelly...

I think the dogs are worse.
When cats pooh in your garden they usually wander in there alone but, when you see the amount of dog muck in the street much of it is left there when people are taking their dogs for a walk and don't clean up after them,

Can be a tad inconvenient at times but, this works 100% for me.

I have the same problem I hate having to inspect the garden every day and pick it up. My neighbours one side have 3 cats and the other 1.
I've put spiky thorny cuttings over all exposed earth which doesn't look great but it's worked so far (loathed to post that because I'm guessing it won't last). They also seem to have stopped on the lawn but I don't know how that'd be connected. I got the cuttings from freecycle. Other freecyclers suggested pepper, lemon or chicken manure as deterents.

Hello bossymommy

I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board, where the board guide might want to merge it with the existing thread 'Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)'.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

get some cheap onions from the market, roughly chop and sprinkle on freshly dug earth. has the advantageous of also being somewhat poisonous to cats if eaten

It is quite an extreme solution but it is long term and requires a lot of commitment but I no longer have cats pooing in my garden - get a dog!
