Let the noise persist BB, with any luck they'll move house and take the ruddy cats with em!:D
Unfortunately its annoying the neighbour who doesn't have a cat!!

They are as you read in the leaflet, inaudible to us humans, but (....so it says) audible to cats emitting a high-pitched sound that makes them bolt and never wish to come back to your garden again. That being the case, but yours obviously not working properly, I'd take/send it back stating the problems and asking for your money back. Even if it was working properly it's really never worth using them, we had one 4 years ago, money for old rope as it didn't do a thing!

Got it on eBay a while back so can't send it back!!
Problem is the cats are spraying a wall next to my front door which is also below my bathroom window (I live in a ground floor flat) I have to the bathroom window open after having a shower & the smell of cat pee is just delightful!! Its also a lovely smell to welcome visitors to my home... NOT!!
The only thing I've found that works is the water pistol but I can't stake out my front door day & night and they get cunning and start coming round when they know I'm not normally there i.e. middle of the night/early morning. The threat of the water pistol only works for a while too, once they've all been gotten a few times they keep a low profile but over time gradually creep back & the cycle starts again.

Could you put some dilluted Jeyes Fluid where they spray. May deter them. Not sure if it will do them any harm:confused:

I thought e-bay had a way of protecting buyers of goods that don't work. Check it out as I'm sure I'm right.

Water is a great deterrent, but as you say, not always possible to catch them.

OK, so you know they like using the part below your bathroom window. Now, collect cuttings from holly trees and put a thick layer all around the area used, any others areas too. They don't like prickly things so will soon find somewhere else - AND - if it happens to be another part of your garden..... MORE holly cuttings!!! If you can't get holly then use old brambles. It won't hurt them any more than it would us but it'll be a timely reminder NOT to do it again!

Good luck BB and do let us know how you go.

I'm sure it won't do them any harm as my aunt always used it and she had animals.

A good idea BB, they won't like the pong!

I think you are right too or if not Paypal offers protection but I bought it awhile ago, got fed up with the noise so buried it in the shed & only dug it out cause the cats have come back & stumbled across the instruction manual!

I must have the toughest cats in Britian because they happily walk over Berberis cuttings, rose cuttings and Holy. I've got Prikka strips on the fence that they still walk on!!

Thanks for the suggestion, I've got Jeyes Fluid on my shopping list. :T Does Jeyes Fluid harm plants?? The little 'darlings' are also spraying in the garden & it STINKS!! It makes weeding and sorting out my plants a rather unpleasant task.

You're ok to use Jeyes with plants so long as you don't flood them with it. You can even use diluted Jeyes to spray plants that have bugs, so that says a lot.

Cats are frightened by reflective objects outdoors. Why not place some crystals or little mirrors on fishing wire and hang them from garden canes?

my little girl has just come in from playing in the garden with cat poo all over her feet. we don't have a cat and neither of my neighbours do so i'm not sure where the cat has come from?
this has only started happening since we had a new lawn put down a few months ago and the piles seem to be appearing under the swing, do cats like to poo underneath things? if so i will get rid of the swing! lol
it has also been spraying my daughters sandpit, thankfully the lid was closed so it didn't get on the sand. i'm going to experiment with some of the options i have read on here, will let you all know how i get on.
It really riles me that we have chosen not to have pets to ensure a safe environment for our daughter and then someone elses pet comes along and ruins it for us, she is at the stage where she thinks poo is chocolate! so it could be potentially dangerous now if i don't watch her every move in the garden which is such a shame as she enjoys it out there so much.

I have cats and they do go outside. We moved about a year ago and for the first time in 10 years they did poo on the lawn They normally prefer soil so I was really suprised.

We tried to clean it up asap to avoid them getting used to it. What seemed vital was keeping the grass short - they didn't seem to use it then.

The main thing that we do is try to provide them a quiet corner away from things that they can use as a loo (in our own garden ). Every now and then this gets turned over and now we've done that the pooing on the grass has stopped.
We usually try to keep this spot hidden and put something fairly fragrant round it. Seems to work for us - although I do notice some visitors using it too (cat's that is :p).
  • My problem is the same as wizwoo in that it is our own cat that uses our lawn as a toilet, so I don't want to scare her out of the garden, but our garden is very small and lacks a place that can be made hidden enough for her so I dispare  as to what we should do. Even when the grass is freshly cut she happily uses it as her toilet, but this behaviour has only started within the last few months? If any one can help I would be greatful! :j
