Ah, it's good to see folk caring where their cats go, good for you both and thank you!

How about creating a small area with soil/grass turfs in, like a large litter tray, any good to either of you?? Will give it all some thought.

Pepperdust certainly wouldn't deter my cat and tends to wash off everytime it rains. His most hated smell probably in the entire world is Olbas oil. Cat pooing is very much tied up with territorial marking and if the cat isn't even burying the poo, then it generally thinks it is top cat in your neighbourhood & is using this as a message to let the other cats know. You'll need to remove all the poo first, then you could try wetting some teabags, and dropping Olbas oil onto them and spreading them where you're getting the problem. Of all the methods, I've had most success with this one as the Olbas smell tends to last for longer.

my little girl has just come in from playing in the garden with cat poo all over her feet. we don't have a cat and neither of my neighbours do so i'm not sure where the cat has come from?
this has only started happening since we had a new lawn put down a few months ago and the piles seem to be appearing under the swing, do cats like to poo underneath things? if so i will get rid of the swing! lol
it has also been spraying my daughters sandpit, thankfully the lid was closed so it didn't get on the sand. i'm going to experiment with some of the options i have read on here, will let you all know how i get on.
It really riles me that we have chosen not to have pets to ensure a safe environment for our daughter and then someone elses pet comes along and ruins it for us, she is at the stage where she thinks poo is chocolate! so it could be potentially dangerous now if i don't watch her every move in the garden which is such a shame as she enjoys it out there so much.
My 5 Year old son keeps playing football in the garden and keeps find Cat Cr*P. I have to inpect th egarden every morning! We used to have a dog and I cleaned up his mess when he went a walk, but cat lovers seem to be an idle breed, they can just forget about them. We have Guinea Pigs that have to watch them all the time! I don't ask the cats to come round so why should I have them. So I sympathy for you. If I find any solutions I'll let you know!

Please accept my apology if this suggestion has already been given but I got tired of trawling through a lot of dross that has nothing to do with the subject.

Have a look at (RHS LINK has been removed) for some advice.

I've had a lot of success with the plant 'Scardy Cat' (coleus canina) but, as I've pointed out to the owner, the best solution will come about when my foot engages with the animals rear orifice!!
That link is now broken, and shows an error message.

I'm thinking of making an electric fence to go round my veg patch to keep the dirty little shitmonsters out. Any idea what voltage would administer a suitably painful but not quite lethal shock?

Not sure where to post this but thought 'in my home' was as near as i could find!

anyway, there are 4 or 5 cats living next door and next door but one to me who like to use my garden as a toliet, not on the grass but all around the soil area amongst the plants.

Is there any deterant that i can put down to stop the cats? Someone i know suggested a citrus gel but i havent been able to find any at either garden centres or homebase etc.

Im not an animal hater in any way and i am not suggesting any unpleasant remedies, something natural that would just maybe persuade the cats to go elsewhere.
    Any idea's??

Do a search and you'll find plenty of ideas. I would recommend weed sheeting and gravel on top. will also help to prevent your bed from drying out.

    Hello saram613

I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board, where the board guide can merge it with this thread:

Check it our carefully Peter, no doubt if you google the question "Cats and electric fences" or something similar you'll get the advice you need. We're having success at present with the 7 from next door alone (!!) by blasting them with the hose. If you manage to soak them they're unlikely to come back for more.

    Good luck.
