Oh ali, my heart goes out to you truly it does. I know I'd have been seething  We had more in our garden today - on pea gravel too!!

My married lad put an idea in my head on Saturday night.

    MUSTARD
Dab it around the areas the cat/s come close to, and if you get anywhere near it put some on it's coat!!!!

Good luck, we won't stop trying!

My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

    I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

I've got it! You can buy automatic squirter's that shoot the offending pests. Search for 'water cat repeller' or I picked up mine from:
(doh no links - search for pest repellers online)

There's a few models on the web, ranging from £30 to £80, I picked the cheapest of course... It's supposed to use a hose, although I hooked mine up to a fence sprayer from b&q which makes it hideable under the bushes.

9 days and no poop! I can tell when it's gone off because the water level goes down in the fence sprayer, alas so far I haven't actually seen it shoot a cat. Long may it continue.

Hi, I string old CDs around my garden, when the light catches them and they look like BIG eyes the cats are off, I also bought the strips of wood with nails in it that you fix the edges of carpet down with, I put this about 2" down from the top of the fence because cats seem to slide their feet down a bit before they jump, When I had new people move in next door with three cats they soon learnt not to jump over the fence Now my problem is Foxes they are the ones that mess on the lawn and even the patio, Cats normally like soft earth just after you have dug it.

Frustrating as it is, do you:-

    * do nothing, only do a daily tour of the garden with trowel and bucket to clear up.

    * follow through all the tips and buy everything on the market which claims to be a deterant.

    * but don't leave out saucers of antifreeze as the last resort whatever you do.

This thread is a bit of harmless fun, but probably that's because it's on MSE, which is about saving money. Statistically, it's also likely to be town-dwelling people who mainly contribute.

Unfortunately, you can't always solve problems for pence, and if something riles you enough, then spending money is worthwhile. I think even [STRIKE]God[/STRIKE] Martin Lewis might agree with that.

If you lived in the countryside and kept chickens in a large run or orchard, your No 1 enemies would be foxes & badgers. Then, you wouldn't have 'owners' to blame, nor would you piddle-about experimenting with flashing CDs or, if you'll pardon the pun, peeing in the borders. Instead, you would get out there, spend a few bob and fit a decent electric fence, particularly if your chickens cost £25 each to replace.

If you didn't it would be like having no insurance & you'd be just asking for trouble, wouldn't you?

Ah, but maybe cats are different.... Perhaps they are just a nuisance and not worth 1100 posts. You decide.

Anyway, problem solved. You can all go do something else now! :)

The last thing this thread has been about is bit of harmless fun. Folk on here are just about cheesed off with the little blighters. You go to a birding forum and see the views on there - they are no different than on here at all.

We've all been very serious, though now and again you might get someone on that says something daft just to wind folk up.

Take a look through the posts islandman, and take your pick, though I douse them or put holly and brambles wherever they enter the garden, it works a treat. We now have a 5 month old pup .....no b****y cats now!!! :D
