Today I am grateful for
Feeling a bit better (managed to wash some pots and put some clothes on the line - it's raining but they have been stuck in the washer so need freshening)
A SFD - DS3 asked if I had any sweets and I said he could go for them but he found some jelly teddies and wouldn't get dressed, so no spending. he has finally noticed I am ill.
Ice Cream - not something I usually buy but it has been so lovely on my throat.
My jigsaw - used it to keep me occupied until temptation to spend went away (not really difficult as not sure I could have got dressed).
Sorry apple I know it's a bit of a cheating list but hopefully next week will be better (and catch up on doing new things/ doing differently). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Hi all. I have been a bit quiet recently and it is because I start a new job tomorrow. It has come totally out of the blue and I am in a panic about my own abilities after having spent so long working from home on my own and 4 years before that just looking after my children. Anyway I have agreed with the company on a 1 month trial for me more than them I think then we will see how we all feel.
I have had to buy some new clothes as I didn't have much that was suitable but most have come from ebay/CS's and I have only bought 2 new things.
Well done misstara on your news. Hugs to everyone else who needs one and glad to hear you are still doing well Bob.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Congratulations Dolly - of course you're nervous; it's a big change for you after a long time. I'm sure that everything will be fabulous though and you'll settle in no bother.
I'm a bit stressed about going back to work as well - I have a migraine again, which I know is because I'm stressing. Still, apart from my tutoring, it's been a reasonably quiet day.
Today I am grateful for:
My friend being sent home from hospital with nothing worse than a nasty virus
The family finally assisting with housework
Having a CPD day tomorrow rather than straight into teaching
ImmigranNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Today I am grateful for:
- Spending time with my DM and DSD
- Having the funds to treat them to lunch
- DMIL helping us with childcare next week
- Lovely GF food for lunch
Cheating a bit as most of my list relates to today's lunch out :rotfl:
DS is all ready for school tomorrow but I need to do some more laundry to get ready for the week ahead and check a couple of hotel bookings for the next working week.
Looking forward to payday a week on Monday, not cos we are brassic but so I can do the budget planning and money shuffle
DH and I have spent sometime today planning our upcoming holiday to Somerset and looking at accommodation for a week away in August after agreeing to cancel the expensive foreign holiday we have booked and cannot afford now we are buying a new house.
DH and I have both put on a bit of weight lately, mine is the Christmas excess I haven't shifted as I have not got back into my exercise routine. We are having a challenge to lose a bit before we go on holiday at Easter so I am aiming to lose 4lb. I need to dust off my trainers and start entering all my foods into MFP again and eating better when I am on the road.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Today I am grateful for a last-minute little playdate for dd, for a catch-up with a good friend, for getting a letter written, for my pinking shears, for warm socks.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Sorry not been on for a few days, I seem to have a really bad cold but with it I have a really dry throat and a headache that is mainly along my left eyebrow and I am just shattered and going to bed early (just about to get into bed now as still hoping to go to work tomorrow)!!
Not sure if it just a virus going round (although I don't think I have come into contact with anyone who was ill) or whether it is related to the flooring we had taken up, we had dry rot and the smell of mould once the carpet and foam was up was horrific, I assume the spores were in the air - not sure if you can catch a bug from mould spores??
I need to report spend days for Friday and Saturday and a no spend day for today. Friday was getting a few bits and pieces for work like soya milk and after work we brought the paint for the lounge, Saturday we brought the carpet - just need to sort out having it fitted.
Things I am grateful for this weekend:
1. Having a local carpet shop who sell very cheap but good quality carpets
2. A very handy DH - he has knocked our fireplace through (it was boarded up) and has made shelves from scaffolding boards to fit inside so the sky and dvd player can sit in there, fitted the TV to the wall and painted half the lounge.
3. Having the room to rear our own animals - today we had a joint of our own reared pork for tea.
4. Having a warm, cosy home and a cosy, warm bed (that I am now going to jump into)0 -
EE -sorry you are ill. Sounds a bit awful. I agree about handy husbands, I am always so proud of mine for all he can do. It saves us a fortune as well.
Cat - you sound worse today. I am so glad your friend is ok though. Hope you get some sleep.
Xspender - where in Somerset are you holidaying?that's my home turf.
Today I am grateful for
1. A kind shop keeper seeing me sat on a bench feeding the baby and coming out to offer me a spot on her nice comfy sofa.
2. My lovely OH taking the children to the library and joining the baby upseems so funny seeing her name on a library card.
3. Meeting a famous actress face to face. And finding she is lovely and down to earth IRL.
4. Funny texts from my best friend
