This made me laugh Bob, apart from the chips, I eat this meal 3 or 4 times a week. I always batch cook tonnes of chilli but try and avoid carbs at night so have it on frozen veg, but top most meals with cheese.

Ha ha sorry no offense to anyone's menus intended. Essentially it was a tasty and filling meal it was more the fact I had nothing else in so it felt very much a fridge raiders feast :rotfl:

Didn't check in yesterday as after my 8 mile round trip to the shops, I didn't have the energy to pop to Maccys to use their WiFi! :(
I could have used Sainsbobs, but I had forgotten to take my kindle with me!

I grouped my spends yesterday but still only spent £4.24 on groceries, they should last until the end of the month. Also had to have a battery for my watch, £3.95 :)

My sister popped in on the way home from work and gave me two tubs of mixed salad, so that's lunch and dinner taken care of today! :D

Well I'm off. I'm doing my usual Friday morning stint taking care of my GD2, plus her brother, GS1 as its half term. My GD isn't well and fast asleep on the sofa, bless her.:(

    Morning turtles.

Sorry didn't come online yesterday, my paws were bit too cold to type.
My heating wouldn't come on again, so 6th visit from same gas engineer and finally solved the problem. New valve fitted and now I have heat woo hoo. Unfortunately the gas engineer is not going to pay me rent now hehe. Well worth 11.54 I pay a month to BGas.

Had a day off work yesterday and did food shopping 24.00 lidlee and 30.00 sainsbobs. Also treated myself to new slippers but used my nectar points. Spent 30.00 on house things in Matalan as well but really happy with my house looking so much nicer worth it.

Fmess good luck with your new project. I might follow your lead this weekend.

Paid 14.04 to my spendy card today, saved 17.00 twds cc2 debt and 20.00 into my EF,

Decided to put off buying a mattress for now, may just buy a better cover for now.

Looked at my totals so far this month, they don't look great but I feel smug with house jobs done. Lots of food in.

    Food 97.55/100
    Petrol 40/40
House 92.05/20 included new washing line, window and soft furnishings
Going out 30.80/30 guess that's me staying in this weekend
Me 92.05/25 ?? Bought a dress for wedding in summer 30, haircut 20, hair dye x 2 so last next 2-3 mths, Make up so I should look fab? and sensible walking socks !

SFD 10 including today, meeting daughter for coffee after work but her turn to treat me.

Happy Fun filled Friday folks and hope everyone is feeling bouncy. x

Enjoy your new experience calling :)

Today was a planned spendy day Aswan supposed to go for lunch with a friend but she's ill. Instead I have booked myself in for a blood test I needed to have but have to pay for car parking, so it's still a spendy day.

Not much else to report today yet

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, been really busy at work. Some good news today - I got confirmation that my secondment is being made permanent :D A spend day as I went out for a drink after work to celebrate. Got home to discover a letter from the bank saying that they've reviewed my PPI claim from 2014 and decided that they didn't give me enough money back so £319.62 will be paid to me in the next 28 days :T

Congratulations misstara on the permanent role and on the extra PPI money

Achieved another NSD yesterday but small shop done tonight, bill made smaller after using £10 od DH n3ctar points.

DH personal spends/beer have exceeded the reduced budget and we will probably end up saving £100 less than expected but the mortgage balance is less than I had calculated after our OP so all works out in the end. TCB will cover lunch out with DM on Sunday.

    I should have a NSD tomorrow :)

  • Double congratulations misstara on your job and the PPI claims. Nice way to welcome the weekend.

Not NSD today. Been craving for a fish meal for the last few days and finally succumbed. Passed by icyland to get some fish and made fish pie with cheesy mash topping. Super indulgent but we're starting a new tradition in the family. Nice hearty comfort food to say good bye to a lovely week and welcome the weekend. It will give the kids something to look forward to as we spend quality time together. I only spent £6 so not a big dent in the next week's food budget. £74 left to see us through Feb.

We received £5 cashback from TSB for using contactless payment - that has gone straight to the emergency fund. We're waiting for hubby's quidco payment and rewards from Natwest. Will update you on the figures.

Had a tiring week and I'm still struggling with a three day old headache so I'm going straight to bed. Have a lovely weekend folks.!

A SFD. Still in bed (waxing philosophical about illness and not looking after our bodies).

DS1 came and took away his parcels so more room in the lounge. Updated me about his new job (more money, easier commute and with a 24 hour gym next door). He has to take any holidays he is owed so may come back (in a week and another weekend) to help with my shelves and any other jobs that need doing - so I might catch up on the time I have lost.

Today I am grateful for libraries (needed new books), for easy food (don't want to stand up) and for being able to rest (since I don't feel capable of anything else) - at least there is money in the bank and all the bills are being paid.

Hope you're feeling better soon mothernerd. I cannot imagine someone as busy as you being so wiped out for so long. Take care of yourself.
Congratulations on the happy news today misstara.
I've had a kind of up and down day. I was already stressed about it being the last day off the hols, dh isn't on good form today, bit of a niggling head etc. DS nagged and nagged me, until I agreed to take him out to £land and we did the £land challenge. Basically this involves me and the kids agreeing the same budget each and seeing who can get the best stuff. Today it was £2. DS got a toy sword and some balloons, DD got a writing book and a mother's day card (which I will make dh reimburse her for) and I got 3 balls of wool and some rice cakes. Obviously we all think that we got the best deal but I do love a good £land challenge - we were in there for ages.
Best friend told me today she won't be coming on the holiday in summer that I've already booked and paid for - we go every year, us and the kids. She can't get any more time off work and is worried about money because she has a family holiday this year too, which is fair enough - but I had already paid it all off. I don't want to go without her so I'm trying to find out if I'll get any money back if I cancel... Not sure how hopeful I feel about that.
Then got home to an email from the Young Carers - I registered my kids with them after Christmas and they go to some of the youth clubs and events to give them a break from the home situation - plus the girls go into their school for some time out with them in case they need to talk or are feeling the strain. Anyway - they are giving us £350  on condition it is used on something that will benefit the kids. I feel like a complete fraud taking money from them to be honest. I'm struggling with the idea of us all being 'carers' and being 'paid' for this.
    A strange old day indeed.
