Maybe you could tell us, I've never played them. However they appear to be a favourite topic of yours.

    How would you know that?

Unless you have had that comment directed at you before?

Are you going to admit what your previous sign in name was?

    BykerSands?

DarkMatter101 or one of his many different log in names.

You would appear to have outed yourself.

Just thought I'd chip in. I've been driving round all winter on the summer tyres that came with my car. So far my journeys have been completed without incident - not even the traction control light coming on.

All for £0 additional investment and I didn't even have to resort to buying some obscure brand of tyre.

Perhaps you should give your data to the tyre manufacturers then, as they seem to be of a different opinion.

I suppose all the side by side tests down over the years are also false?

Your point is almost like saying I eat loads of fried food, take no exercise and drink like a fish and have never had an MI or CVA and don't have High Chol.

Then you have an MI due to High Chol.

Winter tyres and All Seasons make sense, especially when you needed tyres anyway.

At least I am honest enough to admit I went for Winters instead of the All Seasons I had been looking at.

But then again why should other dictate what my opinion is.

Everybody is free to put me on IGNORE.

Because all this trolling of threads merely make sit less likely people will share experiences due to the trolls and idiots posting cheap and derailing the thread.

I am happy to pay around £160 to have the extra reassurance of Winter tyres during this part of the year.

If I still own the Berlingo then they will be back on next Winter and every Winter till they are on less than 4mm then they will be left on till they wear out as with less than 4mm they are no good in Winter.

  • Well this is a moneysaving site and I just thought I'd offer a cheaper option for comparison.

    Where is the money saving?

Running Winter and Summer tyres costs pretty much the same as running just Summer tyres

Would you say that if I had fitted All Season tyres?

I considered it, hence the thread title, but decided to save £16 a corner instead.

Not having an accident is not a measure of a tyres performance.

Have you ever used Winter tyres?

I freely admit I never thought they would be as much of an improvement as they are.

Albeit I have only used Michelin Alpin (older A3), Goodyear UltraGrip 8 and these current Nexen Winguard Snow G WH2, all three have displayed similar traits.

Very good at displacing standing water for a start.

Perhaps if you don't drive much, usually later in the day so avoiding the colder temperatures first thing in the AM or late at night you might not get a return on your investment that you are happy with.

But to simply say you will stick with summers just because you haven't felt the need is a bit like not wearing your seatbelt or use your phone when driving for the same reason.

An accident take seconds to unfold and it might just be the extra grip afforded by the Sipes or the different compound that gives you the couple of metres you needed to avoid them.

we all make choices, you stick with yours and I will stick with mine.

The link might be useful or prove your point. But as its not in English who knows?

My phone browser automatically translates foreign language sites.

Perhaps a phone or browser upgrade would help you?

Another newish poster pops up just as another person gets hit with a PPR?

    Who would have thought it....

Just thought I would update the thread regarding how these tyres are lasting.

Fronts are on 7mm across the tread, no sign of excessive wear on uneven wear.

The rears are on just over 8mm. Again even wear over the entire tread.

I never measured how much thread was in when new though.

Car has covered approx 8000 miles with these tyres on.
  • I had 2 x FULLRUN tyres fitted last week. £76 all in.
