Made decision between All Season or Winter tyres

            Talk about pot and kettle.
It was YOU that stated the tyres were budget, I merely agreed with you!
And as far as side stepping is concerned you keep conveniently side stepping you blanket statement that winter tyres are better than summer tyres in the wet full stop, despite evidence to the contrary on the other thread.
So what your Nexen tyre scores well as a winter tyre, I've never said otherwise. The argument isn't whether you've bought a good winter tyre or not, it's whether your tyre is suitable for the current conditions.
If you want to be the one spouting drivel than have at it, I'm not about to argue the toss.
So what did you say then?
Are the tests different for Winter and Summer tyres? Do they measure fuel consumption in a winter or summer way? And measure sound in a winter or summer dB? I doubt if they do the wet braking test in a winter or summer way either.
And I think you will find I based my opinion on Winter tyres being better in the wet on my personal experiences, not due to emergency braking in the wet but in how a winter tyre better deals with standing water and has better resistance to Aquaplaning.
Or do you think a Summer tyre is better at dispersing water?
Have a look at the tread pattern of day a Michelin Energy tyre, then compare it to a decent Winter tyre. Or indeed an All Season tyre.
Let's not forget the siping of the tread which is designed to increase grip in wet, snow etc.
And no you are being as usual a bit disingenuous about the budget tyre comment, you deliberately took it out of context in an attempt to make a point which you failed to do.
But then I was an early adopter of Toyo tyres years ago, when the T1S was new to the market. Many people said Japanese tyres were rubbish, in fairness a lot were less than great back then especially those fitted to used Japanese imports.
I stick by my opinion based on my experiences that a Winter tyre will deal with wet weather better than a summer tyre, the compound will be much superior below 7oC for a start when Summer tyres will struggle due to their compound. And also the extra siping of the tread will increase grip. Much like the bloke that invented sipes for his shoes they increase grip, that is not opinion, that is fact.
The one thing that has surprised me is that on my old V50 putting on winter tyres (Ultragrip 8) with decent tyres coming off (mix of premium tyres fitted when on lease) there was a slight squidgy feeling when driving along in the dry, almost as if the tyres were a bit too soft. That feeling isn't evident his time, though in fairness the Berlingo doesn't really handle as nicely as the V50 and it does roll a fair bit.
Actually I might buy a set of Michelins for the Summer, so that I can do a follow up thread relating my experiences on a mix and match set of tyres (only one being a decent Firestone), a well priced set of Winter tyres from an up and coming Korean brand name and a Premium Summer tyre. Or I might just update this thread.0

well I fitted Michelin Cross Climates before Christmas ( I live above Sheffield just off the A57 Snake Pass) and was supposed to be going to Manchester tonight. I set out and hit about 2 or 3 inches of snow with the roads not having been gritted. Discovered the road closed and I had to turn round but the tyre were brilliant and coped admirably, I can definitely recommend them.0

3 car accident just above Glossop closed the road. No other abandoned but having experienced the previous tyres and being unable to get off the road where I live with minimal snow a definite improvement.0
