BMG came into my mind as well....

OP can you give a hint what operation you need as I work in the NHS and I've never come across a situation like this. IVF is the only thing I can think of where you have no choice but to pay. You need to get a second opinion from someone in a different trust. You can pay privately for a consultation and I would strongly advise you to do this.

  • I spoke to the cc people yesterday. One of them offered a change of card with same limit but lower interest. It means that the interest on all the items on the card will be lower. Down side £12 card fee but they pay the first year. Just waiting for paperwork and then I can update my SOA. Also did a BT to the same card at the lower rate with no fee.

I have already had a couple of consultations and they have all quoted the same price. I do not really want to discuss my illness/disability on here.
  • I have mentioned the cards to my OH and he is not impressed. He is working away at present so he only knows the figures over the phone. I have prepared a list to give him when he gets home at the weekend. He said we discuss it at the weekend and he hopes I have some good reasons for running up these debts..

I have already said further up that I have no idea about these other posts. Please stop comparing me to them.

That's a step in the right direction - well done for coming clean, hopefully now you can both knuckle down and start tackling the debts.

Out of interest - what did you spend £25k on? Do you have anything from it you can sell i.e. a car, designer clothes etc?

You also mentioned about changing credit card and being charged £12 fee - do you mind stating what provider this is? I know Santander charge £36 per year for the 123 card.

The money was spent on day to day things when I was out and about. I admit with my illness when I am to go out I treated myself each time. No designer clothes or anything like that.
Natwest bank offered me that fee. Would have preferred it to be free but at least they are paying it for the next 12 months

  • I have been sat here all day going through things in my head. Writing down where I think we can cut back on things.

I feel very lonely and not being accepted on this site. That's fine, everyone has their own feelings about me and my mess.

I have started a diary that I update every time thoughts cross my mind but not online.

I will post on here when I have anything that I think is worth saying
  • Where do you plan to get 42k from ?

Be fair marmitechops you are not giving enough in response to convince people that you are not the same person who has posted ridiculously similar information to you twice recently. The SOA has similar numbers, things that others just wouldn't have, property values are the same, same number of cards, same home situation, it just seems strange. Everyone's lives are so very different, the bills we pay the debts we run up the value of our houses, when you read an SOA sure people pay the same for a tv licence, and some things will be similar, but everything else is just wildly different. When people post about their lives some post a little, some a lot, but it's all so different.

The reason people say they think you have posted here twice before is your posts are so similar in many ways, the way you respond to people.

Me, I'm not 100% sure, but I am refusing to post any financial advice I'm afraid as I don't need to play games. If you are genuine then you will get the help you need. I don't really like the way you respond to help and advice given, it's almost as if you don't want or need the answers and know it anyway. As for your health condition, there is no practical reason why you wouldn't give up a little information. Most people would rather tell strangers about somethinlile that and the terrible injustice that means you can't get the help you need than deeply personal financial information and about your difficult realtionship with your husband. At to me doesn't make sense, if you are a private person then fine, but you wouldn't be telling us the other stuff that you are open about.

As far as I'm aware there are no operations that are readily available privately that wouldn't be provided free of charge by the NHS if it was detrimental to your health, the exception being in excessively costly operations (45k private is not costly, they always double the price and add a bit more for fun) or if it is not yet accepted as being beneficial and/or medically safe. Of course I may be wrong but for clarity up until recently I managed a charity supporting carers and people with disabilities and health needs to get the help and support they needed, we often had to help fight the system. I'm willing to be proven wrong though.

Either way I wish you well, I do think you probably need help or support of some sorts and I genuinely hope you are able to get it soon.
