I am in a mess financially

That's not always the case. One example is that little boy that was in the news when his parents removed him from a hospital to go to the Czech Republic as they offered a cancer treatment that the NHS doesn't do. £42k sounds incredibly high though, even for a private treatment.
With regards to the debt, you need to tell your OH, and you should post an SoA in here for people to help you save money.0 -
You really need to get a grip on this - I know it all seems like a mess now, but once you get sorting things out it'll all seem much more manageable.
You really need to figure out what you owe, and stop making it worse. If you really cannot control yourself maybe you should consider speaking to someone as you may need help.
You absolutely need to talk to your OH - especially if they are paying off other debts which may be causing you further trouble. It will not be easy, and it may cause a difficult few weeks while everything sinks in - but you have to tackle this together. Personally, if it were my OH I'd be most upset he didn't think he could come to me sooner so I could help sort things out (not that I wouldn't be upset with the debt - but that's only money at the end of the day).
Finally- until this is sorted I'm afraid the £45,000 for this treatment seems very unlikely, and should only make you tell OH quicker about your debt, especially if they are looking into further loans for the amount- it could send you over the edge.

Agreed - but the NHS were treating that little boy. The parents didn't agree it was the right treatment though which is a different argument.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Go talk to your GP/Consultant. No-one in this country should have to pay for medical procedures required for their health.
With regard to your debts, it's better to come clean to your partner but I appreciate that's not always easy. At least put together a statement of affairs and post it on here for people to advise and comment. If you feel you cannot tell your partner make the SOA based on your income and expenditure alone.
I do not wish to discuss my medical problem any further. NHS don't do the procedure so private it has to be price £420000 -

OH isn't paying any other debts off. We have a joint account that I am in charge of. If he wants money he asks me to get it out for him.0 -

Fair enough - I didn't mean to offend.
Realistically though - unless you are prepared to sell your home or release equity in some other way you are not going to be able to afford your procedure.
I think folks on this forum will be able to help with the debt concerns but possibly not the medical procedure.
One question from your SOA - and it's only a small thing - is your road tax right? We have 2 large, gas guzzling cars and we only pay £31.50 per month for both. As I said - not a big thing, just checking it was entered correctly.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
What benefits are you claiming?
With no children and income as you have I'm very surprised you get that much. If you get PIP's you haven't put any additional expenses you have to pay out for on your SOA.
Your gas and electricity is very low.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Sorry the car tax should be £47.50 per month. Tax is £285 on each car0 -

I receive ESA and DLA. The direct debit for gas and electric combined is £51 per month0
