Oh that sounds lovely and busy for your birthday week. I hope you have a great time. Dieting is not for birthday weeks! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Well workman has taken the ramp out completely- it seems such a big area now……all nicely paved underneath. Would make a lovely seating area but ds wouldn’t be able to get in the house. I think I prefer ds being able to get in.Workman has vanished now as there’s nothing he can do until the wood arrives….that should be this afternoon…..but who knows? The budget hasn’t done a great deal for us. I don’t pay tax or National insurance. Dh only pays minimal tax but no NI. So as per usual the rich get richer 😡January spends - £587.580

Oh I managed to put surplus chicken and fennel in freezer…..5 portions. So we got 9 portions out of it 😀January spends - £587.580

A lovely day in town. I was very impressed with the new park….a bit different than the industrial wasteland that was 😀
We ended up in Costco and I stocked up on meat and tins. Spent a fortune but saved a fortune too, went halves on some things with ds 😀. I also got some things too put away for Christmas.
I won’t be doing a great deal tomorrow though as I’ve got red patches on my legs and very swollen ankles. My September spend is over limits but should make October’s a lot less so all is good 👍January spends - £587.582 -
I used to love Costco…I do hope you got a massive cake 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Ww we didn’t get any cake at all 😳 I nearly caved but was suffering badly with joint pain by the time I was there…….which reminded me why I’m trying to loose weight 😂😂😂 Had I gone there before heading into town I would have been the proud owner of a humongous carrot cake. I did notice a box of 71 (odd number 🤷♀️ maybe it used to be 80 and shrinkage has taken place) of single wrapped chocolate biscuits had jumped into my basket 🤫😋. I ended up spending £145 but had some Christmas stuff in there too. A lovely pop up Harry Potter book which eldest gdd will treasure….£17 but over £30 on line when I last looked 👍
The lamb steaks were absolutely delicious yesterday and we have another 6 in the freezer . The chicken thighs worked out 25p each and breasts 80p each…..I’m pretty sure that’s a good price 😀
The workman is working hard on the ramp as I type. I’ve got pork chops in cider in the slow cooker to go with leftover new potatoes which I’ll crisp up in the actifry. I’m meeting some friends for a birthday dinner (lunch) and then this evening going to the 2 nd part of the crochet course I did a couple of weeks ago. All is good in Milann land. Good job I have nothing planned for tomorrow 👍January spends - £587.583 -
That sounds like a great haul. I do love a good bulk buy and the book sounds wonderful. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

My plans for today went out of the window 😏
I went for a swim as planned but ended up coming home for a rest and some dinner. Then I went to a little shop that does cake decorating equipment about a mile or so away…I’d planned on going straight there after swimming. It’s a little independent shop that shares its space with a florist and it’s been there since the year dot. It’s my first port of call whenever I do cakes and is probably responsible for some of my debts over the years. It was a victim of covid…nobody was having parties that needed decorations (mmmmm…..except a certain street in London🥳😔) Apparently it’s been closed 2 years…since I don’t make cakes as often as I used to I haven’t needed to go. So then I had to dash to town to the craft shop of the hobby….it is so much more expensive than my old shop. I’m quite sad about my little shops demise. I did manage to get what I want for the Golden Anniversary cake which I need for Friday. The plan is it’ll be a lemon cream cake to cater for the residents of the care home….my friend who is in the home particularly enjoys lemony things - I think his taste isn’t what it used to be. And the fresh cream and lemon curd mingle will be soft enough for him to eat, rather than fondant. I think I’ll make yellow flowers tinged in gold and put their names on it so it’s a Hopefully it’ll look ok.
The plan was to make the cakes this afternoon and freeze them so I’m not cooking tomorrow on my birthday….it didn’t happen. I’m going to a show on Thursday so I’m not sure when I’m going to make them 😏 Probably tomorrow after all. One time I’d have been on the night shift tonight but that’s not going to happen 😂😂. I think I’ll be pushing it leaving it until Friday morning as the do is at 2 pm.
I parked in Asd@ whilst I nipped to H@bbycr@ft and put some more cash on the Christmas savings scheme. I want the £15 bonus 👍 I’ll put some more on next month and have it up to its limit by the beginning of November 😃
I enjoyed my crochet session last night and think I’ve got the hang of the new stitch 😃 I’ve finished the cardigan for my gdd too so will get it in the post tomorrow. She was quite explicit about wanting a pink cardigan with a white stripe at the edge 😂The decking is finished 👍 will see what Dh thinks about it when he comes around tomorrow - it’s virtually the same as the old one so should be ok to roll on 🤞January spends - £587.581 -
A lovely few days.
I made the cakes for friend in care home which was today. It was lovely and sad in the same measures. I’m sure it’s not the way they’d planned to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. But they made the most of it 😀
I went to big town yesterday with my friend. I visited a new cafe which did lovely afternoon teas and snacks. It was Alice in Wonderland themed and we had a lovely light lunch before heading to the theatre to see Saturday Night Fever. We worked out it must have been over 45 years ago we saw the film together. I remembered some of it but had forgotten some of the storyline and how many songs were actually in the film. The stage show was spectacular- I enjoyed it far more than I expected. We finished off with cocktails and then nibbles before heading home.
Im going to see ds tomorrow and out with a friend from school on Sunday. I’ll draw a line under the birthday celebrations after that and get back on SlimmingWorld 😀I’ve eaten so much cake though this last few days I’m not sure I ever want to see another 😳……that won’t lastJanuary spends - £587.582 -
I went to SlimmingWorld yesterday and put 3 1/2lb on…..it is what it is, I enjoyed my birthday week 🤫it not finished yet though as I’m out with a friend today. But she’s lost 5 stone with SlimmingWorld so I’ll follow her lead 😂😂😂
Then I’m chilling for the rest of the month….I’m absolutely shattered. I went for a walk with ds and Dh yesterday with a nice little pub break by the canal half way. I’ve not done that walk before….along the canal half an hours drive away. It went behind the newish RHS gardens and was a lovely smooth path.Dh had his covid and flu jabs on Friday and has had a sore throat since. I’m going to go to try and get mine at a drop in centre on Monday.
Towel use is now down to £5 per session this month 😃January spends - £587.580
