Well done 👏 What are you going to cook to remind you of your childhood? My mum wasn’t the best cook so I can’t think of anything I would eat these days that would remind me of my childhood 😬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

My mum was a good bit not an adventurous cook so depending on prices I’ll either make a beef or chicken stew….I’ll go armed with my £5 to see what I can get tomorrow. I’ll add potatoes and lots of root veg and cook it in the slow cooker. We didn’t have central heating and relied on a coal fire until I was about 10 and then got a gas fire with ‘artificial logs’ all the rage at the time and we were convinced the logs lit by red lightbulbs made the room warmer 😂😂😂😂😂 so cooking stews in the oven for several hours not only warmed our tummies but also warmed the house.
I’ve had a nice weekend. We headed over the hills that make the backbone of England to a train show in the next county. I love this show as it’s in a heritage centre….there are craft outlets and a big antique place which is lovely to have a mooch around. There used to be real life steam trains too but the lines are full of weeds now 😢 We went for dinner at a pub nearby and drove home the scenic route along a different road and county. It was an eye opener how low the reservoirs are…..even though we’ve now had some rain. In both directions on different sides of the hills they were very low. One stretch of water is where the Dam busters used to practice. Parts of it had grass growing and you could see some of the old building remains from before it was flooded to make the dams. There are sink hole overflows which were standing high and dry 😳😳 If it’s like that around here I dread to think what it is like further South 😳😳
I went to see ds yesterday and went for a short walk and we nipped into a big Asd@ for a nosey around.
My friend has been here today and we’ve had a knit and natter day which was lovely. I’m just off to the crochet class - not sure what I’m letting myself in for but it should be ok. I still get a bit twitchy about going out to see people I don’t know just in case I get rumbling and grumbling s from my tummy area……it is what it is and I have to make myself do these things. I have spent cash this weekend so will do some number crunching tomorrow 👍January spends - £587.582 -
I hope you enjoy the crochet class. Sounds like you’ve had a great weekend.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Just got back from the crochet class. It was a good laugh as the mother and daughter team were characters and the other ladies seemed very nice too 😉 It’s making a scarf corner to corner. Im not sure I’d have been able to do it following a u tube, but seems quite easy once you get going 😀 They’re doing a follow up class at no extra cost to show how to decrease and finish off in a couple of weeks…..typically I’ve got something on that evening. I’ve not been out in the evening for months 😏 and 2 things at once .January spends - £587.582

When we went to Wales the other week, our route out drove us past loads of the reservoirs and they were all very low. We need a lot of rain to get them all topped back up again this winter otherwise we will start next year in an even worse position!!0

I’m guessing we might have seen some of the same reservoirs as we were heading roughly towards your neck of the woods RS.I went for blood tests yesterday morning…..she eventually managed to get the 3 vials she needed. I don’t like parting with it 😳 I’ve had a message saying a phone appointment has been made for me with a GP but it’s not for a couple of weeks…..if it was serious it would have been sooner.I had such plans for today…..none have materialised as I’m really tired. I’ve been crocheting a baby cardigan for dh boss’ baby - she was born yesterday 😍January spends - £587.582

They would call you in straight away if anything was seriously wrong so no need to worry.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

That’s my thinking SA. I’m surprised the results are in already as it was only yesterday I was there.
Just watching bake off whilst eating a delicious raspberry and almond cake ds made at weekend. yum yum 🤫don’t tell SW lady 🤫😂 no wonder I don’t loose weight.
I’m making a cake for a friend in a couple of weeks….will have to do a bit of research for effective but simple design 😀 it’s got to be big enough and not too rich for the residents and staff of a care home.January spends - £587.581 -
