I watched the funeral yesterday…. well I dipped in and out but actually watched more than I expected. I think they did The Queen proud. Such precision. The crowds were something to behold. I think the young royals were just amazing. I don’t think I’d want to change place with the Royal Family for all the money in the world. I can’t even imagine having to ‘perform’ and keep a stiff upper lip the week somebody so close passed away. I’ve made a little donation to a local Sen complex that the Queen was patron to. I felt it more useful than flowers….there were already plenty of those. My friend messaged me on Sunday and asked if I fancied seeing Tuppence across the Mersey…which seemed very apt since we’d been sailing on the river the previous day. So off we toddled to our little theatre/picture house last night. I was very surprised it was open - they did have a minutes silence. Anyway I had it in my head it was a film but was actually a play. I enjoyed it….there was a company of 8 or 9 performers. It wasn’t something I’d usually go for but it was a 2 for 1 offer. I’m quite pleased I made the effort. It was only about 1/4 full and I did wonder how many of those were on the same offer as us 😳 I’m sure it wouldn’t have made any money - even though a lot of the staff volunteer there.
Somebody has turned a tap on my nose and I’ve got a streaming head cold….tested negative for covid so just a good old fashioned cold. I’d planned a swim but will give it a miss and crack on with some crochet.
Im totally up the creak with my days…..having Dh at home and ds around yesterday has totally thrown me 😏January spends - £587.581 -
Our days are all thrown out of sync as well. Keep thinking it is Monday!1

I’ve got chicken with fennel in the slow cooker and it’s making me want Pernod……love the smell. Not sure what’s got into me - I can’t be bothered doing anything and am sitting eating my body weight in chocolate and biscuits. I even bought cream cake last night when I nipped out for a greetings card last night. Will somebody kick my backside back into gear PLEASE. I was all enthusiastic about going for a swim a day last week and even paid for a towel service. I haven’t been….and suspect I’ll have put more than 1 lb on at SW. I’d even bought a shiny new notebook and pen to record a food diary a couple of weeks ago…..think I’ve done 3 days worth.Right - enough - is - enough……
Im going to do something positive. Turn the tv off and put the radio on and pay my cc. I’ll report back when I’ve done it 👍January spends - £587.582 -
I’ve paid my cc and totalled the month up. I’m £80 over my monthly allowance and into the saving surplus in my account. But considering I’ve paid up front for my gym and splurged on bulbs and flowers this month it’s a lot better than I’d mustered up in my head. I’ll make the £80 back up next month. But I have only spent 1/2 of the cash I take out for incidentals so can spent that if needs be rather than my card. Any surplus from my incidental cash goes into my pressie fund.So control has been taken back 😉 I know what my finances are and have no intention of wasting my gym and towel cash that I’m paying out. My head cold that was threatening has now gone - so I’m going for a swim tomorrow whatever happens….😄 I’ll try a bit of slimming world damage limitation tomorrow as well 🤞not expecting a loss on Friday though.
One of the local cats has taken to using a little corner of my front garden as it’s toilet….I’ve lost count of the amount I’ve cleaned up this week. This is on tarmac - I thought cats liked digging😏😏😏 I quite like cats but I’m not impressed with whichever one has made itself at home. Any idea how to stop it…….I’ve sprinkled zolflora - it worked for a day but as soon as the smell decreased……I got another smell from the load it left. Not what I want to smell by my front door step 😡😡😡January spends - £587.582 -
You can get cat repellent spray which is harmless but no idea how it works. I wonder if it’s a tomcat marking his territory because they usually bury their 💩
Sounds like a line has been drawn in the sand with finances and SW. Stay strong 💪
I had a very bad (very, very bad) experience with Pernod when I was 20, haven’t been able to face it ever since 🤢I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -
Pernod used to be the one drink I could hack without ill effects. I haven’t had one for ages…..mmmmm…..need to rummage in the cupboard as I think I have some.January spends - £587.581

Chicken and fennel was delicious- made loads and my freezer is full of ds stuff whilst he’s sorting his freezer out (long story 😏) Good job we liked it as I think we’ll be eating if a few nights. It’s not a SlimmingWorld recipe but easily could be 👍January spends - £587.581

I’ve been to the gym and for a swim. So this month the towel has cost me £15 so far (towel month starts on 19th). If I write it down on here it’ll encourage me to get the most out of it instead of sitting on my behind.January spends - £587.581

Cat has left me another parcel 😡
We have been clearing the decking and moving some things around before the man comes to do new decking tomorrow 😀January spends - £587.581 -
Hooray 😄 workman has arrived and has already dismantled most of the old decking supervised by next doors cat who is sitting on the fence watching his every move 😂😂
I haven’t been to SW - made a pathetic excuse that we’ve got workmen in ( I could have easily left him to his own devices🤫) I did weigh myself at home and have only put 1 lb on. I’m hoping to loose it next week but since it’ll be a mid week birthday for me with meals either weekend I’m probably kidding myself for that 😏
We've managed to secure tickets for a NT event in the big town nearby. There’s an old railway bridge that has been taken over by the NT and planted up with greenery for the summer…..if it’s successful they’re going to extend it and make it permanent. We’d tried to book earlier in the year but it was full all summer. Ds happened to look midweek and got 3 tickets for 10 am tomorrow. So we will have a day in town….there’s also a new park that has been made on an old industrial site. We might go to see that. We also want a trip to Costco.
Monday I’m out with some old work friends from 3 jobs back. Wednesday will go out for my actual birthday with Dh and ds. Thursday I’m going to see the show Saturday night Fever back at big city for my birthday with my friend. I’ll treat us to tea out as she’s bought me the ticket for my birthday. Think that’s about it 😀January spends - £587.582
