Belated happy birthday milann - glad you had a lovely time!

What a pain about the curtains - fingers crossed you can just replace the linings though.

We can’t replace the lining EH….it’s a bonded material and it has fused together in an almighty mess. I actually found a tiny dry clean only sign after the event. We’ve decided to go for something totally different and providing they’re in stock tomorrow we’re going for a mustardy yellow and grey triangle pattern on the curtains. We’re thinking an off white yellow emulsion on the walls with grey bedding…..I’m even contemplating crocheting a mustard yellow throw. The carpet is a dark grey. So that’s money  I wasn’t planning on spending. But it seems silly spending more than half and it not looking any different.
I went to the craft group this morning and made a couple of nice cards 😀
ive cooked chicken and mushroom in the slow cooker and it was so tender. I cooked extra salmon yesterday and made 8 salmon, broccoli and potato cakes for the freezer.
The house is a total wreck…..how can decorating 1 room make such a mess throughout the house. I’m missing being able to jump in bed at 9pm to watch tv snuggled under the blankets.

Curtains are ordered and a new duvet cover and pillowcases bought. 😳😳😳After the price of those we’ve decided to do the painting ourselves instead of getting decorating friend in. It should look quite different once it’s finished, or should that be IF it’s finished. It feels like a long journey ahead 😏
GP phoned earlier and all the blood tests except 1 were ok. We’re no nearer knowing what caused the red patches on my legs. My cholesterol is high and she wants me to go on statins…..I said I’ll try to get it down myself. She’s given me 6 months to make a difference so I need to up my act a bit 👍
I dread to think what my October spends are…..it is what it is. I’m eating into my saved lump sum from my works pension. Need to remind myself when it’s gone ITS GONE

Just thought I'd mention that a few years ago I got mine down by halving how much red meat I put in a meal & sticking with red sauces & avoiding white ones.  Also check if your HDL is high too, if it is it negates some of the bad LDL.

I think you should get decorating friend in.

I second the decorating friend, much quicker and far less stressful.

Two of my friends have got their cholesterol down by changing their diet rather than take tablets. You can do this 💪

Could the red patches on your legs have been hives? I very occasionally get them when I eat strawberries. 90% of the time I’m fine but just every so often I break out in them, always on my legs.

They think the red patches are capillary bleeds SA.
Dh was a trooper this morning and yesterday. The ceiling and walls have had 2 coats of vinyl silk 😀 I have been sitting on the floor painting skirting boards. I had to admit defeat when I tried anything more strenuous. Very frustrating when I used to do all the decorating and I actually love doing it. ( My dad was a decorator and I absolutely loved helping him)  The curtains will be here by Monday and I’ll have to turn them up a couple of inches….a faff but less than half the price than ready made ones. These have cost £150 about 20 years ago I paid £400 for made to measure. They still faded in the sun after a few years….never again 😱 The style I’ve chosen means I can have 2 big curtains on the bay window - many ranges don’t do the bigger size. I’ve made smaller curtains from scratch but I physically don’t have the room nor inclination to start from scratch. I want to change the accessories too. I have a big canvas of a pink and blue butterfly which goes beautifully now but will clash big time with the new colour scheme…it seems such a shame to send it to the charity shop…..and pink/blue cushions. I’m pretty sure I have some yellow and grey wool so plan on shopping from home to crochet new covers for them…..I’m hoping I didn’t get rid of the wool last month when i culled my stash 🤞
The cholesterol is high in both the high and good stuff. The is also happened many years ago and I got it down by diet and exercising more…..thanks Badmemory what you have done is exactly what I plan to do. I knew it was on the cards so should have acted sooner. It’s the snacks that are my problem 🍪🍫🍦🍔. I used to be a diet cook working closely with the dietician….I know what to do and know how to cook it SO WHY IS IT SO HARD

Have you ever had a doctor go blank on you.  I have.  She told me how my bad was high & I asked her about my good, she hadn't looked.  The good can balance out the bad.
It is so hard because some days everything just seems so hard when you aren't feeling good.

She told me the numbers Badmemory….can’t remember off the top of my head. This was over the phone, she offered me a face to face appointment if I felt I needed it but I said I’d wait until the red marks happen again so that somebody can see it. You watch it’ll be next summer now. Anyway she’ll pester me in 6 months so I need to sort my act out 😏 I know I’ve let things slip badly and got into some very bad snacking habits…..even rejoining SlimmingWorld and having a gym membership hasn’t  motivated me. Maybe seeing my friend on his golden wedding last week, after having a stroke and vascular dementia , remembering my mum after hers stroke and the fact that I know the GP will follow up might give me the kick up the backside I need.
I think I need a telling off from my virtual friends if I don’t use my membership to both the gym and SW …..it’s MSE to use it as I’ve paid the gym upfront for a year….feel free to give me a kick up the backside. I plan to go on Monday….hopefully the house will be in better order and I can go out…..unless I’m waiting in for a curtain delivery.
    wow….that was another moaning post.
    Im thankful that -
    -  my biggest worry has been messed up curtains….something easily sorted
    -  having the funds to buy curtains- even though I didn’t want to
    - having a slow cooker in which there is a spag Bol……more veg than meat, which will make about 10 portions 😀
